Google Pixel 5a in for review

There's a reason I went iPhone 12 mini. Not because I wanted to return to iOS. Hell, no. If I could put Android on an iPhone, I would. It's because the A14 Bionic is way more future proof than a Snapdragon 765G that also lacks the visual core chip. I also needed an iPhone again for my Apple Watch.
The Pixel 5a announcement was so ho-hum. Zero excitement. Google even cheapened out again by using Gorilla Glass 3. I suggest Fold3 or Flip3. Don't be stuck with another boring slab. The form factors will be changing in this decade. Won't be redundant like the 2010s brought us especially the last 4 years.

Google keeps reselling us the same phones.
Pixel 3a is on par to a 1 but weaker than the 2.
Pixel 4a is on par to a 3 but weaker than the 4.
Pixel 5a is essentially the same as the 4a 5G.
I know the a-series gets love for being cheap. But you will start complaining years down the line when you should have went for a proper flagship SoC.
The 4 at $200 is a better buy than a $600+ 5.
The 3 at $100-$150 is a better buy than a $400+ 4a.
The 2 at $80-$100 is a better buy than a $200+ 3a.
That's all the a-series is. A gimped Pixel of the previous year but with similar specs to two generations back.

I wouldn't have payed its launch price but for what I actually payed it's a damn steal. And again, 0 ads. I'm not biased towards one brand or the other, I just look for the best performance/price ratio. And this one has been a stellar phone for the money.

And that is the main cause why small phones do not sell very well. More than the size it is about the price. If android makers start to make those small phones with battery efficient specs then it can sell quite well

I don't know why GSMArena says this literally about every OLED screen
I prefer dxo in the term of screen ranking
Mi 10 ultra got 73 points from dxo (super low) but got great OLED screen from GSMArena

But since a lot of their users are still used to older iPhones, they just decided to be making smaller sized ones for those audience that don't move on to bigger sizes

That's the hard point for marketing an "user experience" to most of the people. They must be happy to still use MIUI with lot of ads and bloatware, as long as the specs is near flagship and the price is low. To experience what it good feels on pixel phone, they must own it. Sadly.

We can't compare quality and quantity. 108MP phone's multi camera never stand before 21 MP DSLR camera. Its all about quality. Compare your 48MP or higher mi camera with a 12MP Google pixel camera.
