AnonD-940827, 02 Sep 2021So you are saying Samsung never used their own 108MP sensor... moreYou're the one on high.
Samsung used a new 108MP sensor which was different than Xiaomi's Mi 10 pro's 108MP.

We'll have to wait and see how this sensor performs.

The successor of GN2 is going to be bit larger.
GN5 is sort of HM2. It is not for flagships.
Probably gonna take place of GW1.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2021That's bad GN1 has 1/1.31" sensorJust because it's smaller than one of the largest mobile phone sensors in the market, no way in hell it means it's straight up "bad" lmao. Moreover, GN5 uses the improved DTI for improved full well capacity of each pixel, and according to Samsung's press release, this allows its 1µm pixels to gather more light compared to 1.2µm ones that use traditional cell wall structure before they are fully saturated - meaning the dynamic range and SNR might be comparable to or even better than GN1.

Nah, I'm waiting for 1 giga pixel.

Do u live under a rock? 2mp simply cannot produce enough quality. Like check out the macro samples In a phone review. They barely make average photos. I would say even 12mp is enough but more mp could be beneficial. For example like the 200mp one they made it so it binned Into 50mp. And 50mp brings extra detail. Plus if u aren't forced to use the 200mp either. There are a gazillion more phones without thta high mp.

Consistently 12 is the choice. The reason they'll have higher MP count is for AI and video recording, both of those factors benefit from higher megapixel counts.

Mobilemaster, 02 Sep 2021Sony does not have any 1 inch sensor for smart phones yet.I was laughing when these guys claimed that Huawei will debut a 1" Sony sensor on their latest flagship.
I knew there wasn't any 1" smartphone sensor from Sony in the pipeline.

2MP crisp and high-quality photo is enough in real world situations (family/vacation etc. photos), so 200MP seems a huge overkill. They just need to work on a better sub-10MP sensor which is more than enough in phones and stop the MP-count BS game.
