Julius, 14 Nov 2012The MeeGo child is sad? Oh, sad, sad Panda.
We don't _ne... moreAwwww, having to Rely on something other than the original makers just proves how sad the source code for Android really is.
Sure Open Source is great but then you have makers that are unable to update EVERY device using said OS because of it being ridiculously fragmented to the point to where even GOOGLE themselves couldn't update all of their devices (Verizon Galaxy Nexus for example) on time yet you have ridiculous Fandroids that defend the same OS with their life that has just screwed them over.
XDA is the only hope Android has. Without XDA, Android would've been ditched a long time ago. Every time an OEM fails to update the device, all the fandroids with said device run over to XDA in hopes that they have some un or under-paid dev working their butts off for undeserving whiners and complainers that don't contribute to anything and buy a device not as is but as it could be then complain when something doesn't go the way they thought.
Once MeeGo goes Worldwide (and it will with that Wealthy $259 million donation that Jolla just received to expand the OS), it's the MeeGo train for me and those that are tired of Android (and there are a bunch of them).
in the end of next year, it's going to be 2 Open Source OS' and 2 Closed Source OS'. Android fans keep talking about wanting choice, well now we have it and it's called MeeGo.
Like I said before, Have a Nice Day :)

As a Nexus S owner I can totally understand this. The last update has made the phone run pretty slow, often hanging.

MeeGo Takeover, 14 Nov 2012LOLOL Just like I said in the other article. ANDROID IS THE... moreThe MeeGo child is sad? Oh, sad, sad Panda.
We don't _need_ another open source OS. Any OEM is free to get Android source code and create a device like the Nexus S and put frigging 4.2 on it.
It's ridiculous when I see fanboys trying to blame Google for it. The Nexus S is old, old. RAM is limited. 4.1.2 already doesn't run all that well on it (personally, I think ICS was the best, considering I had a Nexus S to begin with).
Finally, I want to hear about the pricks who blamed Google when the Nexus One (2.1) wasn't updated to 4.0, and everyone started crying that Google was inventing excuses. And then, in September, CyanogenMod crew itself recognized that the Nexus One hardware was beyond any hope for anything past CM7 (that's Gingerbread based CM).
Some critics are really a joke.

Is this really that important? Is there a big difference between 4.1.2 and 4.2? It's been a few years since I've owned an android phone but don't remember the software updates doing anything other than minor bug fixes.

Anonymous, 14 Nov 2012I ask again, how many of those new features does the Galaxy... moreI guess you have not understood my original reply.
A matter of fact i am NOT expecting Galaxy S to get this update. Technology moves on, Galaxy S was not designed (h/w wise) to accomodate JB.
and lastly, without JB my Galaxy S is NOT outdated. it performs the best as it was on day one. and if some one is enthusiastic we always have XDA to support and yes, you cant siri to iPhone 3 in any way, can you ?

LOLOL Just like I said in the other article. ANDROID IS THE PROBLEM, Not the OEM'S!
People are FINALLY figuring out that Nexus devices don't always receive updates either. It happened with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus and now it's happening with the Nexus S. LOL!
Everybody that bought a Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S, just got the Sucker sign from Google. Lol
Now maybe you'll listen to me when I say, WE NEED A NEW OPEN SOURCE OS!!!

Google is contaminating the market with frequent updates to their OS. The only makes matters worse for clients.
Before Apple customers begin to celebrate, we have to keep in mind that Apple too has a fair share of complaints its Bluetooth, File Transfer etc.
Both need to find a solutions to sort out the matters in their respective camps. Google, just wants more buyers for their products, and Apple just wan't the boasting rights that it could claim once upon a time . . .

You people need to get real. Look at the Hardware of the Nexus S, it only has one single core of cpu. Of course google won't upgrade the OS again. It would be pointless! Most of the cheapest android phones out now comes with dual core. Blame the fast development of technology in hardware.

My ipad 1 update also stop at iOS 5.01 and its does lag on certain graphic intensive apps. Its come with iOS 3.2 -> 4 -> 5.
My favorite is still Xoom 1 especially after the jelly bean 4.1.2 update.
Apple fanboy are snob in denial.
