Had one of these. The biggest purchase mistake I ever made. Was also damn near impossible to sell even in mint condition.

I heard the same from most of htc owners these years. that's how htc lost reputation so badly. "One" series were the most expensive phones at that time with the first dual cameras, first dual speakers and first aluminum frame. but, no one recommended htc.

HTC started it all. Should they have an efficient after sales services I think they still the brand to reckon with.

I needed to wait 4 weeks for warranty repair and they sent me back my phone with the same pink color issue. So they changed my defective camera module with another defective one. Nice move.
Of course after that failure I didn't buy htc anymore. Still, have M7 in my desk and i love it. If you don't think about camera problems, that m7/m8 was great.

4MP pictures were not as sharp for 2013 standards. besides, most of M8s suffered from pink camera issues and those issues were excluded from htc warrant. so,people started to stay away from htc. they were charging premium price but lacking proper support.

The M1 series was so good, I worked my ass off to buy an m9.

When it finally came, it was super shit. The pics and OS and build quality was PHENOMENAL! But the performance and and heating issues. Man, every time I did the slightest work or charged the slightest amount, the metal phone would become a frying pan! HTC really lost a golden goose.

Could have been a phone series on part with the iPhone or Galaxy S series phones. We used to call it the “apple” of android.

                  RIP

                    My all-time favourite mobile phone!

Being innovative like Palm, HTC, and LG can get you out of the business. Sad how the smaller and quiet innovative ones gets ignored. It all went downhill for HTC after 2011. The M7 and M8 never really revived them financially. They got rave reviews but it didn't seem to matter once iPhone became available to all carriers.

The fact that the $1000+ Mi 11 Ultra doesn't have USB-C 3.1 or video output support is a complete joke. The rest of the rivals who used to put USB-C 2.0 now switched to USB-C 3.1 as Vivo did with the latest X70 Pro+. Even Sony and LG can give USB-C 3.1 on their midrange smartphone for crying out loud! No excuse for Xiaomi for not doing the same thing.

SuuperBaka, 04 Oct 2021Huawei was pretty innovative tho as well as Vivo, the rest ... moreHuawei destroyed the market with camera obsession whilst still pushing cost upwards and cutting corners.

Smartphones used to be consummate portable PCs. These days, they're too hyper-focused. Wannabe DSLRs with laptop-grade fast charging. That's it. The only plus from the Chinese-dominance is that mid-range phones are now sufficiently capable for the average user. Unfortunately, that has imposed a ceiling on performance.

Samsung's Dex for instance has been unrivaled for years. That would have never been the case with the Sextuple. Tell me you wouldn't be excited to see 2013 HTC's or LG's take on foldables in 2022? Not just hardware, but software. Sense UI is still the best Android UI ever and HTC isn't even in the game anymore.

The S3 outsold the iPhone 4S. Today, Android flagships are niche devices; and you have Android mid-range users who upgrade to flagship iPhones in lieu of an Android flagship. That used to be sacrilege, unthinkable; because Android flagships were the undisputed, uncontested pinnacle of mobile computing.

It's 2021. And the $1k+ Mi 11 Ultra does not have stable, feature-rich Desktop Mode. That's from the stable of the supposed Android King of the Hill. It's a bad joke!

Anonymous, 03 Oct 2021I hope everyone here still remembers. news.yahoo.com/sa... moreMrwhosetheboss against LG Mobile definitely comes to mind. The amount of cringe coming from his video about LG smartphone is totally off the scale (🤦)! Don't even make me started mentioning about his clickbait thumbnail (LG Wing 5G on the thumbnail but talked about LG DoublePlay in the video instead? Really? 🤦🤦*). I see less popular non-sponsored tech YouTubers who can give WAY MORE informative and intellectual videos and reviews about LG smartphones.

One of the most good looking premium built device during its time.

HTC made some stunning phones back in the day.
They were a benchmark for design and build quality when Samsung was stuck on plastic.
