Which world you're living.
M1 is almost 50% faster than that i5 for laptops(Also I am hoping you are not ignorant enough to compare the 65W desktop 9500 with M1). Even compared to that desktop CPU M1 is 10% faster on average.

There are countless types of laptop out there. None is forcing you to choose the business model.
Apple never makes any cheap product. So, it's only fair to compare it with other brands elite products.
Finally judging by your falling apart theory it's pretty obvious that you are not very familiar with laptops. I have seen lot of laptops having their hinge and battery go down just after a year. There are many other points where it can go wrong. There is simply not enough time to mention it here in detail.

Cinebench is lying to y... moreNot everyone is always on battery. Most of the time most people do this kind of work somewhere with a power outlet nearby. And for a quick edit on the go there is still enough of battery. And btw 9500 is still faster than the M1.
On Passmark the performance advantage is even bigger.

Sony vegas, Treesize Free, Winamp Milkdrop Visuals via VST, just as an example, or a lot of underground Software for those who like to sail the high seas.. a lot of specific Software for older Devices/Sensors/Controllers. Backwards compatibility: I have a 20 year old soundcard in a Win 10 machine which still runs great and delivers better quality than onboard sound.
Far more hardware support and drivers, don't have to buy expensive apple branded GPUs or RAM for upgrading. Need more?

Regarding build quality: i never had a consumer notebook falling apart, what kind of build quality are you talking about? Does it need to be a heavy metal brick who will freeze your fingers if it's cold outside or on the other hand, burn in the summer?
But with apple products, you always have to pay prices similar to business windows notebooks, even if you wouldn't need it and even if there is really nothing business grade about apple products, so...

If you look up it's performance rating on Passmark, oh who would have thought, it has only around 2/3 the performance of the M1 or a Ryzen 4800U. And then they even compare it with an old Surface Pro X which runs on an over 3 years old Snapdragon 8cx. Please god, let rain down some brain. That article is just misleading and rubbish. But sheeps will cheer because they don't understand...

still ... moreMan you funny and even if you not funny any or noone better to say of macbooks are good for gaming because of overheating, incompability lack of specs like Ram, Disk space GPU and many else.
They have the fastest CPU but only on paper in real life use playing for 6 hours game like doom eternal mackbook would and should be long time frozen to death where my lenovo with said specs will work like nothing.

Cinebench is lying to you, the score factors in turbo boost, which reduces the battery greatly.
Non-turbo boosted gets you a 9000-9500-ish score, which is much more comparable.
