And usual device like this is for Emulation, streaming and SOME Mmorpg. With perfomance equivalent of sd 845 you can emulate anything from NES to Wii.

People are okay with on-screen controls and can hook up an external gamepad as well. There are also phones with extra keys for a console quality feel to it. The issue is that phones lack processing power of consoles

I'd say it might have NVIDIA arm chipset, with geoforce now.

If prefer valve, and a nearly 100% screen ratio, 6 or 8 inch screen.

Why don't they concentrate in making an advanced video phone instead?

im sure there is a market for this, but quite frankly mobile gaming still sucks big time, I would gladly pay a one time fee for a console quality graphics/game play title, but most are just tacky and boring, the only game i play nowadays pretty much is call of duty mobile, but even that does get a bit tiring after a while, give me solo missions and levels like on the consoles, in app purchases can remain for maps/weapons and other loot, give me a PROPER football game with proper game play instead of these stupid build a team concepts, leagues/cups/euros full on football not watered down money spinning half baked games, of course thats not how developers will make money, or so they spout

If this comes with a High-End chipset, it should last longer/be relevant. So it needs a Cortex-A78 and a capable iGPU such as found in the QSD 778/780/865/870/888/888+ to achieve this. And this will make it priced at USD $500 minimum. And that's going to be a hard-sell. Almost nobody will buy it, it will flop, software support (first or third party) will wane, and it will age poorly.

If it comes with a Low-End chipset, like a Cortex-A73 (or worse!) and a poor iGPU, such as the QSD 632/636/665/660 then it won't be able to do much more than what the cheap Chinese Handhelds can already do. Eg Anbernic, PowKiddy, RetroidPocket, etc etc.

So I guess it comes down to fixating on the price first, then finding an appropriate SoC afterwards. The target price should probably be USD $200, so it's not that much from the $150 Chinese Handhelds, and that its not too hampered by the presence of the Nintendo Switch Lite/OLED. I think a MediaTek Dimensity could be a choice, but it usually comes with the caveat of worse drivers, less software updates, and fewer Custom Rom availability. On the flip side, MediaTek chips are cheaper so we could potentially substitute a faster SoC despite the lower software optimisations.

So for the $200 price, we should be at least getting a QSD 690 or MTK D900, and at the very most we should be expecting a QSD 768G or MTK D1200 SoC. The slowest there, the QSD 690 is still plenty fast, and will be able to show some performance advantages to the upcoming competitors who are relying on outdated Cortex-A75 processors. Whereas the Dimensity 1200 is a very good chip hardware-wise, and should entice a lot of potential buyers. Especially when it comes to higher-end emulation like demanding titles from the Nintendo Wii. This device would probably come with a nice looking IPS-LCD screen at 1080p, or maybe a slightly dimmer/inferior Chinese-OLED variant. It is wishful thinking for a (LTPO) S-AM-OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, but not impossible.

hari120, 04 Oct 2021Nobody buys consoles to play pay to win games. I feel surprised people still have motivation to play mobile games.

                - tons of users hack to earn coins and other stuff.
                - cheaters never get punished (car racing games).
                - games that you never win events unless you spend money to buy coins to update gear or unlock new characters.
                - games that fool people and are completely different from the ad, like Gardens Scape that in the end is sort of Candy Crush.

Check odin project youtube, odin has sd 845 but in some games it perform equal or even sometime better than sd 855, because odin has Active cooling it can sustain perfomance and you can overclock GPU.

Also having built in controller is better, usually you get portable console, both telescopic and normal controller are huge, something like Gamesir X2 or razer kishi will make normal phone bigger than Nintendo switch lite.
