x2 X1, x2 A76, x4 A55 makes sense, using x2 X1 cores it takes up more space, so they had to go with A76 instead of A78 to fit.

Sadly, the Pixel 6 doesn't have a tele camera. Much more important than ultra wide angle.

AppleInterruptControllerV2 on A15 (aic,2 in the Device Tree, compared to aic,1 on earlier parts).
The driver for that explicitly supports multi-die parts, with a debug message “Unsupported max die count _aicMaxDies” present in the iPhone 13 kernel.

And the A76 is plenty fast, despite being old. Its IPC is only about 10% slower than an A77 and 15% slower than A78. Have you seen the performance of the Snapdragon 860 with its A76 cores clocked at almost 3GHZ?
A76 cores pack a punch even in 2021. I am not sure about the implications on power efficiency though.
In any case, I think the rumors about the SOC having a 2X1, 2A76 and 4A55 is BS anyway.
It will probably be 2 or 4 A78 cores in combination with 4 A55s.

I'm certain that Tensor SoC (a.k.a. Exynos 9855) will be heavily focusing on NPU to aid with image processing that will take place inside gcam, but I have no hope whatsoever for the rest of the chip - I wouldn't be surprised at all if its CPU ended up being an absolute dumpster fire because of the unorthodox dual Cortex-X1 configuration. A76 cores replacing A78 also means its middle cluster is already significantly slower than a year-old SD865 - Google should've stuck with SD888+ and developed a new generation of Pixel Visual Core instead.
