Thats how phones are sold there but of course not everyone lives there or buys a mid-range phone. Some people buy flagship phones, including me, and they like to keep it for while before getting rid of it so of course they care about battery health and lifespan etc. I would not care if my phone was a $200 Pro Max but like I said, buying a flagship phone means keeping it for a while and the battery shall not degrade so soon. If you ask flagship phone buyers, most will tell you that they do not care about charging speed and would be with overall long-term battery health cause thousand bucks is a thousand bucks after all

Like a car, noone force you to drive 250 km/h or?
Or are you thinking the same way with a car etc, because this way to think is/could/can stopping innovation. Innovation we all screaming about...

A battery replacement is really cheap out there, even for the S21Ultra to. Or their next release etc

Its a fast and busy world you know and its damn good to have the option to charge really fast.
And a battery replacement isn't expensive at all.
Options and choices, Samsung ya what to say... 👎🏻

GregLu, 11 Oct 2021That's true, I forgot about their stamina mode, presen... moreYes indeed. The stamina battery-saver mode has been on Xperia phones since many years and they acquired the company as well. Now in it's latest iteration it has just become better. Sony even goes on to market that their phones are good at battery performance after a lot of cycles which might be true after all. Brands like Xperia or Galaxy or even Apple are not into the super fast charging game since they well-understand many caveats of it and it happened to me too, by using my phone for just a year with fast charger. Battery quickly degraded like lava and replacement was not available. Now this flagship phone is on the verge of becoming just a very expensive paperweight. Well fortunately the other phone is supported by the company even after three years so I can use the fast charging and replace the battery when it dies but still I would rather refrain from going to those very high levels that the chinese companies offer. I do not want to wake up next to an exploded phone in the middle of night xD

Now they even acquired (or something like that) the company that workd for them on stamina/battery mode. And that's true than other than Samsung, Xperia is there ... But way to pricey for what they offer, in comparison in the market. The fact that they discontinued A LOT of Sony product/soft on android in the past year isn't a great news. But perhaps this will change when they realise they could do a Playstation Mobile and make a lot of money ? :D

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2021Who actually cares about the battery declining ? It's ... moreActually, I care a lot. In the past, I wasn't so much (Because I was changing devices every 6 month), but since the batteries are kinda soldered into a phone, it's important, for various reasons; economical, ecological, security (remmeber Note 7) etc. The battery will last, but as I said before, after only 1.5 year of light usage and only charged "slowly" (Only approx once a month fast wired with a power bank to top up) the phone and keep at good levels (20-80%), the stamina of my Note 10+ is declining, and therefore this is kinda pushing me to a new phone. Kinda because there isn't really any great replacement on the market, perhaps the Note 20 Ultra but given the Exynos that I got ... No thanx, I'll pass. If at least there was a flat screen and not curved.

For a 200 EUR phone and a 18W charging, that's expected. And I agree with you, 15% on 3 year is not that much. But for a device that costed 5x that price ... That's not the same story, and the same applies for all smartphones above 1000 EUR. And that's quite a lot now ...

                    fast charging saves time
                    slow charging waste time

these kind of people are evolving just backwards

why we pay premuim for less huh

I'm using p30 pro with 40w charging speed. I don't see any degrade battery life. Still can last for 1 full days. I know the different between 25w and 65w is just 25mins. But most ppl wanna top up their battery for few minutes. Example 25w from 10% charge for 20mins only reach 55% but 65w from 10% can reach 70% in 20mins. 65w will slow down the speed when battery almost full that's why when full charge is only 25mins different.

It's not like the battery wont last for you for the 2-3 years most use these high end phones anyways before they buy new top end for them selves. A lot also use them for only 1 year. Never mind that you can charge your phone in slower speeds and you can do it with your 5W also if you like it. And basically your comparing batteries that dont support the fast charging with the batteries that support them.

My phone is over 3 years old and i have used my 18W charger with it that is max my phone support and in 3 years only 15% have declined from 4000mAh And i would say thats a good result as it's a budget under 200 euro phone

Same goes for the 65W vs 25W, could go to 25 min though. So, is declining the battery worth it ? I guess they could offer the choice, since in their setting they offer the choice to charge wirelessly fast or "slow" to keep cool the device for example. Same goes for wired ;)

Lulfie, 11 Oct 2021Just as bad as appleYes and no. I remeber their 45W, that wasn't really a great gap. But on the other hand, the slow charging on iPhone preserve a bit the battery. I see in in my 1.5 years Note 10+ that is starting to decline in stamina with a low 2020 usage as you can imagine, well, with fast chargin this would appear in 6 month. I see in with the Xiaomi and Oppo of 2 friends, after 6 month, they start complaining about the battery. But yeah, in ~40 min it's charged to 100%, so you'll need a plug or a power bank :P

I prefer good stamina on the device itself, if this means charging a bit more with a reasonnable speed, so be it ... 25W is actually fast for a 4000 mAh, specially if you don't go more than 80% :) (to preserve battery too)

Probably an unpopular opinion but this is one area I don't really care too much about.

Of course it would be nice to have a faster charging speed but you know they're not going to want to include a capable charger for in the box so it would just be another purchase.
