Since Nintendo owns Pokemon, Mario, Zelda and most of the top 1st party games nothing can compete to them. It’s not not really about how powerful the console are. Like damn the switch is 1080p 60fps docked in almost 2021 while other competitors ready for 8K and still can’t compete with Nintendo in terms of sales and best sellers.

No one cares how a home console looks. Just look at how much the PS4 sold, even looking like a bended VHS.
On Home Consoles, what matters is what the user interacts with, and thats the game media and the controller. And even Apples themselves released horrible products back on those times.
If you wanna talk about Nintendo Odd's designs, theres the VirtualBoy and the OG GameBoy (which was a brick but still a classic on its own)

In the past, Apple had some failed products that most people don't remember. Apple's global recognition is much greater now, nothing they make can flop despite it's price or utility. There are people that want an Apple logo on everything, as much as Apple does.

Perhaps now is the time when Sony can revive their PlayStation Portable. I owned a few of them back when it was popular and the experience was quite better than on a phone

The design for this hybrid console should be amazing being it's Apple. Because Nintendo has the ugliest designs ever with their hardware. I owned the first five generations of Nintendo home consoles from NES to Wii and they're all ugly. Except for maybe their GameCube. It's just ok. Their Wii was just ok too. Looks like a small hard drive.
Sony had some nicer designs. PS5, OG PS4, OG Vita, OG PSP, and PS2 slim are all nice designs. Didn't care for the designs of the PS1 phat and PS2 phat. Apple's console design should be amazing. Hopefully, more curvy and sleeker because the Switch is not very pretty and is awkward to hold for a long time. Even the Switch Lite still feels bulky.

I think it is good to have many options from many brands. It doesn't matter a console a laptop a smartphone a tablet or earbuds.

I would be curious how often Apple will upgrade their platform? Will it be every year? Because most handhelds live about 5 years before getting replaced. This doesn't work like a smartphone. And Apple must sell it at a loss. It's like the razer blade business. Sell the shaver at a loss. Make the money off the blades. Apple makes their money off games.
Avoid that first generation. Usually Generation 2 or 3 is when it's greatly improved. SNES, PS2, and the 360 are the GOATs from each company. Look at games with Part II next to it like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Dead Or Alive, Shenmue, Sonic, Uncharted. Games get very good by Part 2. Corrects a lot of Part 1's flaws and improves it's core strengths.
