Apple readying a handheld console to compete with Nintendo Switch

HELL YEAH and I hate Apple's closed philosophies and iOS. The reason this has me interested is because their SoC blows away anything Qualcomm comes out with. As long as we can run emulators, I might be in.
Most consoles are closed. Windows is closed. But people find ways to run emulators on them. I got into emulators from a first generation iPod touch. Imagine playing them on an A15? Snapdragon 888 can barely play GameCube games smoothly and has a little trouble with Wii games.

It will retail at an affordable $995, and for $1495 you can get the model with 64 GiB extra storage.

Since apple have the A15 which in theory is powerful as a PS4 Pro, this console really have potential.

The only problem is IP, Nintendo has a huge legacy, with titles dating 40 years back, that they can cash on year after year after year.
Apple has to create a name for its titles and IP and stick to it.

Amazing, with their efficient ARM processor and their financial muscle they can outright buy or hire studios to make exclusive high quality first party games for them.

Anonymous, 12 Oct 2021Competition is good for consumers, Switch has monopoly . So... morethis is not a competition at all, switch are for nintendo games alone, you can't play anything else on them.
and for the apple one its most likely going to be just like the switch with specific games and nothing else is allowed to run on it.
its just monopoly with 2 players.

No one can beat Nintendo in the handheld market, even Sony has failed.

They should. They have a kinda good game ecosystem with some exculsive titles excluding *ehm* Fortnite *ehm*; their GPU in A/M series, IMO, is now better than the Tegra one that Switch has been using for almost 5 years. The only challenge for them I think is how to achieve that unique fun gaming experience that people always get from Nintendo consoles.

This is so weird.
Apple the company that charges a huge amount as it's "Apple Tax" is trying to enter a market where you have to actually sell the product at a loss and recoup costs throughout the years.
Apple fans are probably still gonna buy it tho lmao

I'd never seen that Apple console. Discontinued after 1 year. Yikes. I think I do remember seeing that controller, so I guess I just didn't know it ever materialized into an actual product.

Sounds good to me, Apple SOCs are very efficient. Even an iphone from 2017 destroys the switch.
