The industry should be worry....thang God this arent windows machines..and Intel and amd still be in their old x86 architecture
But damn...al that performance for around 60W while windows laptops draw for the same perf 105W ?!

Since Apple's ARM CPU is still incapable of running an eGPU enclosure, I'll just save my money and buy an M1 Mac Mini instead.

Ahin, 18 Oct 2021I was impressed by everything until I saw the Notch on the ... moreits not a notch. on the preexisitng 16X10 screen they have ADDED a strip on the top to accomodate the camera where only utility icon bars will be present. Your screen starts from below it.

They bought back hdmi port, sd slot and 3.5mm jack back. At least that's nice. Actual pros won't sell their old expensive gear and buy wireless stuff or ridiculous new accessories to connect their stuff.

The reason for the notch is that 1080p webcam sensor is thicker and hence cant stack the sensor as well as the display panel together. That's why the display panel is cut at the top which is called as a notch. Anyway there will be a option to hide the notch but will lose screen area.

Man, the notch is very controversial and feels so surreal for Apple to put it, I wouldn't be sure to get a laptop like that but at least it's still 16:10 aspect ratio. Nevertheless, it is a very capable machine and it looks like Apple is stretching their legs.

It's like apple is rubbing it in our facea, here is a laptop that would crush most of windows bs laptops in power efficiency with almost the same performance but with f u c k ing notch, take it or leave it. As for Microsoft, good luck with your all new revolutionary windows 11 with widgets and the brilliant innovative idea of putting thet start menu on the center.

Incredible machine. Now with the ports and smart card readers PC is starting to ignore. And just when Apple stood back and was appreciating, what a perfect machine, somebody said, "We need to incorporate one signature aspect mark of genius to ruin it. I know. A notch." I really do think Apple have hit out of the park with this one. But the problem with the notch is it ruins the viewing experience. And now everybody and their aunt in the pc world are going to copy it.

With actual usage it's gonna be shorter. x86 is far less efficient compared to ARM, that's a well known fact. And Microsoft needs to improve their ARM transition (remember Surface Pro X?), they've been left behind since the M1.

I mean come on, a high performance efficient ARM SoC, the legacy port is back, no more Touch Bar, a nice 10 bit miniLED screen, yet everyone talking about "eW tHe nOTcH"
