Google's Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are all about smarts and imaging

Impressive new cameras and a super powerful custom-built Tensor chipset.

Some good ideas. Google has always been a bit expensive for what you get.
BUT
It would be no surprise if the 6month 𝑟𝑒𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑡 finds the phone to be among a pack of similar.
Google doesn't make phones, they commission them. Who makes this phone?

No, phones can not match even a 1" sensor camera. One cam maker during the event compared their phone against a 1" camera. Funny part is the phone was set 4s shutter while camera 1/16s.

Phones have much smaller sensors, no software can compensate this. Phones use plastic lenses (much inferior to glass). This is why some phones have to use extreme levels of sharpening to make you believe it is all actual details.

No wonder why photos of phones (all them) look very ugly and muddy when viewed on pro monitor.

Google now lets you adjust the white balance in auto mode. That's very important. So you can get the correct colors and don't need to adjust anything else and can also still get all the multi frame noise reduction advantages.

TheLastOracle, 20 Oct 2021Everything else is fine, but how much has Smartphone Photog... moreThe smartphone camera still has a tiny sensor size in the first place. That is why, despite the computational photography capabilities, it's still not and never always be a true DSLR/Mirrorless camera replacement. Even an M43 camera can still produce better photos with crisp and clear detail purity.

Everything else is fine, but how much has Smartphone Photography moved closer towards DSLR quality, In terms of actual detail and sharpness. It already has great dynamic range and superb low light capabilities (both probably comparable or better than much larger sensor in some HDR cases).

Wrong ideology. When you pay a near-$1000 smartphone, it should have EVERYTHING in a single package. Spending more money for third-party peripherals on top of an already expensive smartphone in the first place is an outright daylight robbery. That is why I use an LG V60 for being a complete package all-rounder. HRR screen is just a desire, headphone jack and microSD card support alongside FM Radio is still a necessity still being used daily.

asvaberg, 20 Oct 2021Pixel 3a has headphone jack Pixel 3a XL has headphone jack... moreThose aren't flagship models. Sony, ASUS, and LG have proved that you still can have a headphone jack in a flagship smartphone.

At least on paper it looks better than all recent Pixel phones. Even visually it looks somewhat fresh with it's color accented design. Overall getting a positive vibe from it. Gonna wait for reviews before coming to a verdict.

I find it difficult to accept that more and more phone actually comes without a charger.

say that I've been using phones from 2017 and managed to not change up until now. there's little chance I already have a minimum of 30watts charger with type C available.

These phones are very nice. It took Google 6 iterations to finally make something special but it was worth the wait. Kudos!

[deleted post]Meanwhile You are stuck on sixty five dollar phone.

Just too big, the standard 6 is compromised and large, the Pro is absolutely huge.
Huawei can fit 7 cameras in virtually the same footprint as the standard 6 so why is the zoom lens missing here?
The standard 6 should be the only one, with a zoom lens of course.

Google finally learnt the recipe for a flagship. Excited to see the Pixel vs. Galaxy vs. iPhone battles. Also excited to see the Tensor vs. Exynos vs. Qualcomm vs. Apple A series chipsets battle.

This is the first time I actually interested in pixel phones. Good job Google! Hope it will available globally
