ok i used symbian and droid. then got hooked into windows phone.
Its an amazing os, and don't believe all the hur-hurs you near about lack of apps, there are more than enough of what you will ever need. Would have loved some quality games free though, seriously, paying for angry birds makes me angry!
The OS on the other other hand is as smooth as turning pages in a book. Mine is on the lower end of the ecosystem; still it never slows, never hangs, no funny business at all :)
use a windows phone before criticizing please.

Ok, so on topic, all Windows Phone 7 will get the update. Microsoft controls the update on this one, so don't believe the rumor about some phones not getting it, this is just like Mango all over again.

Off topic, Windows Phone 7 is based on CE kernel which does very limited processing as it is designed to run only on ARM processors. Windows Phone 8 on the other hand packs a hybrid NT kernel which does more. The current WP8 OS supports a CPU with up to 64 cores. Android however, does not play well with multi-core CPUs (as proved by Intel), lags on a single core 800mhz CPU, leaves 10% free memory of a 256mb RAM, and most importantly, prone to malware and lots of gaping security holes. Now Fanboys and Chumchums, you may play Barbie with your android phone, customize it however you want, pirate all the apps, and brag about the hardware that isnt even used properly by android, but neither Windows Phone 7/8 will ever stoop down to androids level.

I am an android user, i think quad core and dual cores are enough to run android, don't need to add cores every year, what happened to people/ fanboys?stupid ideas you have there.what android needs is a stable software update..look what iOS and WP is doing right now, hardware is just a component of any device, you already forgot the "software" that also needs a better upgrade..

To be honest the future is going to be octocore. thats 8 cores. seems pointless as most modern day will only use 2 at best. now if the programmers can harness the power of the cores. and use it to its potential. we will see some amazing devices. but i do feel its playground talk. i got 2 core, i got 4 cores. and so on. childish really.

as mobile phone sales man. its a pretty good phone. its a shame that this update was not months ago. to bring 7.8 to mango phone. so winmo users can have a new experience. but sadly they jumped ship to android. as this is a future platform thats going from strength to strength. i liked my lumia 800. but my note 2 is probably the most advanced phone yet. but next year will only get better in tech.

Off-Topic : All you Android fanboys, stop making me sick ! Just leave it be and do not bash other users/OS's... jesus.. You people are the reason for me to be ashamed as an Android user !
On-Topic : YES, Android did not deliver what was promised, but eventually did with 4.1/4.2. This is why ALL OS's get updates ! So think again before leaving a comment !
While WP 7/8 is still young, it does deliver some great things and i see a bright future for the WP platform.
And one last thing ...about these 8-10 cores that you people expect to have on a phone... 1st of all : YOU DO NOT KNOW if this will happen ! 2nd ..THIS is EVOLUTION, you can't stop it ! That is why you get 1-2-4-5[Tegra 3] cores on a phone these days, evolution baby !

The most popular phone right now - GSIII - will be smoked by pretty much any 2014 phone, and you are talking about 2010 devices with WP 7.9 in 2014?
Why shouldn't I be talking about and bashing Android 1.0 right now then?

WP8 supports up to 64 cores, but more than 4 has been useless on laptops, will be useless on phones too.

Can't count 4.1.2 and 4.2.1 yet as they are getting the 4.3 update very soon which the basis for 5.
In other words 5 is for 2013 and the main OS launch.
Only count whole number introductions as the final release for general public.

You don't need to buy a new phone, Simply flash a Root custom ROM straight out of the box.
Takes less than 30 minutes and is so simple it's fun.

Android fan boys again trying to explain their bugged out OS, first was 2.3 will fix this and this, then 4.0 will fix it, then 4.1, then 4.2, now it's 4.3 and 5, get a life, 6 years of beta and nothing on the table! And for the updates you need to buy a new phone, what a lame reality!

WP 7.5 can't handle that power and is single core for life .

In 2014 we could have 10 core phones with 3GB RAM.
Then how would you feel with your single phones and then running maybe 7.9.
