if it's apple it's okay to have their in-house SoC because there's no other manufactures make an iOS smartphone other than Apple. But I don't know if Oppo, samsung, google, etc make their in-house SoC, how will the app optimization going? i mean, the developer needs to optimize their apps for each SoC, is it going to be more fragmented than already is?
if the app optimization going to be more complicated, developer will choose iOS first and android will died slowly because it's too much fragmented 😢

How much money needs to be invested?
How much people need to be hired?
How much time does it take?
Do not forget that Apple puts the new chip inside all current phones. Sales are more than enough to recover the money invested.
Samsung has large volume of flagships sold, also they have own Semicon division.
Huawei could recover money by using kirin for all devices.
The other do not. Look at google, how many times have you heard over the months Tensor is just a Exynos? Google is not stupid to burn money from a project to make chip 100% google and start from zero like Apple, Huawei and Samsung.
Unless Oppo drops completely Qualcomm and Mediatek to use own chip for all devices, that is not gonna work.
Xiaomi has learned this lesson.

To date, Oppo has relied on Qualcomm and MediaTek for its chipset supply though it now apparently aims to bypass the two chipmakers and enter the group of OEMs designing their own silicone just like Samsung, Apple and now Google do. Huawei also used to design its own chipset though the complications arising from US sanctions have severely hindered its Kirin SoC ambitions.

Its a TSMC company like everything in apple device it belongs to any other company. Samsung for display and camera etc, LG Sony or Boe for many else.
And everything is assembled by Foxconn.
Litterary whole device is made by china and apple buys whole device from Foxconn.
Maybe OS and company Logo belongs to Apple anything else is many other companies around the globe.
Thats the said and milion times proven fact.
Apple cant make anything its self because chinese assembly worker gets 16 Yuans per hour which is like 2,30 USD where aaverage USA assembly worker gets between 14 to 22 dollars per hour.
So if really apple would design, create and make their own phones without help of other people like Vertu does phone prices would skyrocket to 10 000+ per 13 Mini.

What I would like to see is a continuation of the Alibaba Xuantie/Allwinner and similar RISC-V based SoCs, it's also interesting with Pine64 putting a Rockchip in a phone since those are Linux mainlined.
Anyways we need more pressure on companies like Qualcomm and Mediatek since they barely support their hardware with software, violate software licenses and rather focus on patent trolling.

Thx to apple, now most vendor will make their own chipset to make sure they can head to head with apple latest soc , this will add more fragmentation in android depending on gpu module but most likely those vendor will go to mali gpu or maybe amd if they open up
Additionally thx to snapdragon 888 with overheating issue and average performance compared to how apple significant performance upgrade with a14 and a15
