The a7iii was quite a revolutionary camera, this just seems to be an evolution.

The exciting thing was, how natural, they rendered images straight out of the camera. Just like a professional camera would do. I would still go to Lumia's review page, pixel peep the images, and wonder, "This was we were supposed to go."

They may not have a large Megapixel unlike the 808 PureView and the Lumia 1020 (20MP vs 41MP), but they can record 4K video and use oversampling technique as well as in Photo mode.

TheAccountant, 22 Oct 2021hello everyone, I want to ask if there is any smartphone t... morePhones don't oversampling if at all as they are mainly 12mp 4:3 sensors which when cropped to 16:9 are not much different to the 8mp 4k resolution.

48mp, 50mp and 108mp sensors are quad Bayer or teracell sensors which are designed to combine pixels nanvand output at 12mp, you don't get any extra detail in 48mp mode as the color filter covers 4 instead of 1 pixel, so the next neighbouring colour group is further away

These "Oversampling" comments remind of the legendary Nokia (Lumias) of yore, those innovative and way ahead of their time sensors and processing is still something I'd like to see emulated today.
Not sure how much the Lumia 1520, 930 & 950/XL cropped for 4k, but I wish we got 4k on that beautiful 41MP sensor

                    hello everyone,
I want to ask if there is any smartphone that records oversampled 4k. if not, what is the reason? We know processing power is no longer a constraint.

Even if they were multi aspect, still not help.

Also phones apply lots of EIS, this decrease quality.

Anonymous, 21 Oct 2021Simple sensor with slow readout. Uncapable of FF 60fps. There is no full frame sensor with 33mp that can do 60fps read out full width.

IPhone sand other mobile devices that claim 4k60 don't produce 4k quality video because 12mp 4:3 sensors barely oversample if at all for 16:9 video, because of bayer interpolation, you need to significantly oversample to get true 4k resolution.
