I'm in the EU and have a Matepad 11 running the latest version of HarmonyOS 2 out of the box. It also ships on their smartscreens, some watches, some routers etc.

          It is true that Huawei smartphones don't ship with HarmonyOS outside China at the moment.

            Buying Huawei is like using Harmony OS to run Android apps. It's like buying a Mac to run Windows. How can it make a difference on the market if you are basically running the same apps? At least on Mac, aside from running Windows, you can run Mac apps. On Harmony OS, you can only run Android apps. Again, what's the impact on Android by doing this?

But it doesn’t support GMS and that’s really thing that matters most to Google. Real money is no longer in phones and OS, it’s in selling services just like Apple does on iOS. It’s selling services for a monthly fee. So yes, if Harmony powers 500 million devices and through those devices it’s selling cloud, music, movies, games and all, and at the same time, there is really no other option to buy all those services then from Huawei, that would be a HUGE impact to Google.
                    Don’t get me as a Huawei fanboy, I’m far from that.
                    I’m just talking that world is not just the USA or just Europe. There is rest of world too and it’s becoming stronger every day.
                    Law of big numbers, nothing more than that.

Imagine 600 million have Android phones, 300 million have iphones and rest are kids or have dumb phones. Imagine that from that 900 million people with Android and iphones, say 500 million transfer to Harmony. It would be a massive impact to the other two platforms and that is why this news is important.

                                  Many devices are still on emui 10 and Android 10 and Huawei don't seem to care........ I'm using the Y9a released in 2020 for a device almost 2years old it is still on Android 10 and the emui 10.1 it came with out of the box even though emui 11, android 11 and emui 12 and harmony os have long been released......

                                  I will advice people to go Samsung or IPhone if they want their peace of mind on OS updates cos Huawei don't care about their users outside of China.

                                    Huawei is a joke, I swear I use to admire their products but I've realized they care less about what we the customers want.....
                                    Y9a for a device released in 2020 is still on emui 10.1 and android 10........ After Android 11 and emui 11 have been released...... Emui 12 and Android 12 have also been released yet many of Huawei devices have still not received a single OS update from the one they came with out of the box....... As for the Harmony OS the least said the better......
                                    Go for a Samsung or iPhone to have your peace of mind

                                        Why should anyone outside of China care and why is Huawei constantly being promoted here?

                                        China has its own internet too, blocking services and information available to most of the rest of the world. Shouldn't we be getting updates on its AI versions and how many people it tracks and spies on?
