The announcement is what Asus has officially stated as phones that 12 is coming to. If the Max is not on this list, then there are no promises by Asus that it is getting 12 -__-

It's all right there and easy to read.

chris1998, 23 Oct 2021I don't think they're the worse. Remember they... moreMaybe you're simply not smart enough to operate that type of phones?

My 2 cents, 24 Oct 2021Asus first flagship was the 2018's Zenfone 5Z and firs... moreI think it has less to do with their experience in Smartphone market but more with the number of units they are able to sell for a given model. They are simply not making as much profit as other brands to be able to support their devices for so long, and even if they decide to support their devices longer, chances are they'll sell even less.
Compared to Chinese brands who make profit by volume of sales, and Sony who has higher profit margins, and top brands like Samsung, Apple who make profit both by volume and high margins, Asus neither enjoys volume profit or high margins (their phone are competitively priced). Still I believe they are doing a better job than OnePlus who has turned to the dark side. Once Asus figures out their supply chain and ramp up the production, they'll be able to support their smartphones longer.

chris1998, 23 Oct 2021I don't think they're the worse. Remember they... moreAsus first flagship was the 2018's Zenfone 5Z and first gaming phone was the ROG Phone of 2018 too. Asus is not new in smartphone and proof of that is a search in GSMarena for Asus phones will get you 10 pages of result.

While I do like ZenUI for being simplistic and almost stock-like, Asus track record in software support still not confidence-inspiring. The aforementioned ROG Phone only got 1 Android update despite being one of pricier phones launched in 2018 and Asus launched only around 10 models that year.

In subsequent years, software support has slowly improved but Asus should really consider giving 3 years of Android update given its small portfolio of models launched annually.

It's a shame that Zenfone 6 didn't make it to Android 12. The phone was more than capable of running the latest Android smoothly.
To ASUS' credit, they did mention "the phone" would get at least 2 OS updates, which it did. They did manage to fix battery draining issues and more so...it is what it is.
It's not like Android R is gonna become obsolete in 2 years.
