steve, 22 Oct 2021asus is the worst in terms of software update. I don't think they're the worse. Remember they've only really been serious about phones since the zenfone 6. Zenfone 5 and previous models were a mess. UI was bloatware mania, zero updates. It made MUIU look like stock android. Unfortunately they're behind in updates (2 years OS updates and monthly security) but yet so is Xiaomi (the only phones to receive 3 years oS and security updates is 11T/11T pro and even then the security updates aren't monthly) you also have to remember smartphone industry is new to Asus they mainly do computer hardware. I think they're moving in a right direction, considering their first flaghsip phone was in may 2019

Looking at Asus that's now recently listening to their customers, i think Asus Zenfone and ROG phone will get faster software update many months from now.

Other than that, I can't see any reason to have one. Sure that Snapdragon 888 has the best performance among the three phones you are aiming at, but that chipset has a reputation for overheating under prolonged use. It definitely reminds me of the Snapdragon 810 fiasco. If you want a great camera, go for the Pixel 6. If you deeply care about the headphone jack and/or microSD card support, go for the Galaxy A52s 5G. If you still think of Xiaomi, you may want to consider last year's Mi 10T or Mi 10T Pro.

Display is good, though not adaptive, so you'll be on 120hz mode all the time if selected. SoC performance is more than enough for everyday tasks, but graphics intensive games are hit or miss (Genshin medium is fine, CODM BR high 60 fps is possible). Charging takes forever if you get a 15w charger, 25w charger will top it up in 90 minutes. Standby battery performance is amazing. The cons are the low light camera performance, and the really abysmal haptic motor. Between the three phones you mentioned, I'd have the pixel 6, but the a52s is fine if you can live with the cons I mentioned. The 11T is a poor follow-up to the amazing 10T pro, the price/performance isn't there, and the camera app tends to overprocess photos.

Should be able to get under £30/month for phone plus data all told.
Of the three you mentioned, I'd get the Pixel 6 given the preorder bonus of the headphones - never seen them sold below £200, which means effectively you're paying less for the Pixel 6 than you would for the A52s. And I'd be nervous going with a Chinese phone at the moment just in case you're stranded on an outdated Android or worse because of geopolitics.

I've had one since pretty much day one and it's been very solid.
Currently up to date on security patches and 12 coming soon, I've no complaints about my first ASUS phone.
