Also while I do know Samsung had ads, I have never seen them on any of their phones, so maybe it was region specific.

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2021Wrong about the fast charging thingy, though. Fast charging... moreBut on the other hand same Xiaomi removed and card slot on their more expensive models (and cheap phones have more often microsd + 3.5mm for now...)

Anyhow another reason a degraded battery is what Xiaomi would want is because then they could sell you more phones, people forget that the margins on Xiaomi and most other Chinese brands are so low, that high sales are a must.

More expensive brands don't have that problem as much, but in my opinion EVERY brand would love to see you buy a new phone every year...

hari120, 25 Oct 2021Xiaomi bringing super fast charging even in budget phones w... moreWrong about the fast charging thingy, though. Fast charging increases battery life degradation, so, you wouldn't want to buy a $1000 phone only to see the battery swollen after, probably 6 months. Hence, the reason for lower charging rates in flagship phones ( at least, those from brands who still care).
Xiaomi is only trying to appeal to you and not caring about the lifespan after you've paid them your cash.
But I will still commend them for retaining the sd card!

xiaomi is the saviour of budget segment 🙏

This is a massive online shopping day in China so to release it after this would result in them missing out on huge potential sales

If it is exclusive to china, i will dissapointed

Sun Sand, 25 Oct 2021Could they not launch it maybe a month late or so and have ... moreCan't see them shipping android 12 on a phone that's most likely exclusive to China.

Could they not launch it maybe a month late or so and have Android 12. Of course it would get 12 if shipping with 11, but no 13. So that's why saying lauch with 12 so can get 13!!!

I'd very much like to see a study on how fast charging impacts the lifetime of batteries.

Also, I don't care much since I have many gizmos to charge so use an Anker 6-ports thingie, that doesn't support really fast charging anyway. Which I don't mind, because I charge at night.

I'm much more concerned about battery degradation over time than about fast charging. I'm actually concerned that fast charging might accelerate degradation.
