Early Pixel 6 benchmarks put CPU performance below Snapdragon 888, Exynos 2100

25 October 2021
The single-core performance is identical since they all use the same big cores, it's the multi-core performance where the Google chip lags behind.

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2021SD450/Helio P22 are enough for average person. You drunk man?

More like a Snapdragon 732G or 765G or 778G and comparable Mediatek Dimensity chipsets with good software is fine for 90% of people. I remember that opinion article from last year: "FLAGSHIP CHIPSETS AREN'T NECESSARY ANYMORE", but that low-end is just laggy+ they are 3 or 4 year old chipsets.

Someone I know has a Galaxy M11 (launched last year with a Snapdragon 450) and it lags like hell. Here in India, a comparable Redmi, Realme and even some OPPO phones perform better for the same price.

CPU needs to be worked upon, GPU is pretty good.

If this drop in performance= better thermal and sustained performance, I'd say it's fine: Better to prefer this over hot potatoes like the Snapdragon 888 and the Exynos 2100.

Manchito, 25 Oct 2021What's the point having a super fast chipset in a smar... moreagreed... besides, the tensor design is different in some ways...
i also believe sd855 and sd865 are the sweet spot... at least on qualcomm portfolio...
raw power is great, battery seems to be better than on sd888... might also affect battery longevity... the reason why i stayed on xperia 1 ii (sd865) than upgrade to xperia 1 iii (sd888) though i am missing the telephoto upgrade...
perhaps, might settle to upper midrange when soc keeps on chasing high benchmark yet suffer throttling...
that is why pixel 6 (nonpro) gets my attention...

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2021SD450/Helio P22 are enough for average person. No, I had a Sony with 8x A53 CPU, like the Helio P22, and it was struggling even in 2015. Having to use that in 2021 is torture, an iPhone 6s performs better.

When exynos inside pixel is way behind snapdraon, people find excuse for it.

More than enough grunt and it's the overall experience that counts. Some sections of tensor are dedicated to Ai and gaming. Good mix.

The hope is that the optimisation is good and therefore in real world use you're going to get top performance and image processing despite not having the highest scores.... Remains to be seen but that is my hope.

These are early benchmarks, and the software is most likely still not fully stable. So the scores might be lower. It happens on most early geekbench or any other benchmark score whne a phon eis released early.

Not too much behind on the single core. Just the multicore they are almost behind by 800+ points

What's the point having a super fast chipset in a smartphone? Since Snapdragon 865 all are pretty fast and runs smooth. I'd rather have a bit slower one knowing that the battery will last longer and the fotos taken with this smartphone are among the best ones.
