Anonymous, 02 Nov 2021Optical zoom is variable.
If it is not variable, it is no... moreTrue but the smartphone company market them as zoom lens. No smartphone in the history has ever mentioned about prime lens yet almost all of them are prime.
These are the technical details of a camera lens, which is enjoyed by the photographer/videographer/enthusiast community not by average consumer.
They all are bragging about "Pro", Yet all the smartphones have usb 2.0 wired interface. All actual Pro camera uses sd/cf/uhs card which can be of varying speeds.
Smartphones should atleast move towards usb 3.0 type c ports. But I see some of them are even struggling with usb c.

Regardless They will remain at the top in terms of performance
Maybe they will introduce cooling and android oems won’t have anything going on for them then.
Google tensor is disappointing with subpar performance
More like a 778.
But still its a first gen. Hoping for better in the future
Using my 2 year old 11 pro. No hiccups, excellent battery
Hopefully will last another 2 years.
Will keep researching until then.
Android has improved since i last used it in its oreo days but not there yet.
Ios has incredible battery optimizations, the performance is great but i hope they add some more features
Overall, 2021- we are reaching Saturation point for both soon in next couple of years. Privacy is going to be huge.

Apple lost more then 100 engineers in the past 2 years, the new ones just bloated the a14 with more cache and called it a15, the same will go for the a16. TSMC N4P is only 6% more powerful and 12% more efficient. Expect less then 10% performance bump.

3nm isn't going to make much of a difference difference. Focus on putting better cooling inside.
Raw cpu power is useless without proper cooling.

techitout, 02 Nov 2021I hope Apple just surprises everyone by giving a 10x variab... moreOptical zoom is variable.
If it is not variable, it is not zoom lens, it is prime.
Their periscope patent is fixed fixed length.

Anonymous, 02 Nov 2021Why people think gains can only be done through fab process... moreYes and no. You are now seeing Apple chips with best manufacturing node. How AMD or Intel would perform on that? Adler Lake will show M1 doesn't have performance crown even when Intel still uses inferior Intel 7 node. Next year Zen 4 on 5nm will surpass efficiency and performance of M1 Max.No 3nm for Apple means any advantage will go away. M1 is great but without node advantage it will be only very good

Why people think gains can only be done through fab process? Has everyone forgot magic NVIDIA pulled with 28nm process when they launched GTX 900 series? It was using same ancient 28nm process as all the cards before them and they had lower power consumption and higher performance. And knowing how good Apple is with chips at the moment, they don't need new process. It helps, but isn't necessary.
