Let's get real.
- A 3D sensor that can be used as a microscope/macro.
- 48mp+ macros.
Liquid lens technology can get very good results. So, a single liquid lens array to do it all in one sensor, variable focus, variable aperture, variable zoom (with liquid lenses, it can be more like varrying between an array of prime lenses), macro microscope configurations, off of a single 48mp+ sensor. The 4 phase AF, could be used as sort of DOF detector.
This would probably be a smaller lens module than having 4+ sensors.

I prefer three cameras Tele Wide and Ultra wide not depth i think Iphone Sam and other did this its great up to 2050 then of that i don't know what will happen with mobile cameras.

Give me a 1/1.54" 12mp 2.4um main F1.7, a 1/1.7" 12mp 1.8um Ultrawide "gimbaled" ultrawide f2, a 12mp 2x 1.4um f2, a 16mp 1.22um 6x, and 3D ToF

remove all macro, tele or etc, add main camera 1"++ sensor, plus can add mounting lens

They can put it anyway. But skipping ultra wide & telephoto and implementing wtupid 2MP macro & dept and marketing like triple camera system is a joke.
Almost all new oppo, realme & OnePlus phones comes with 2MP macro instead of telephoto.
Xiaomi is decent with this.

I never take portrait photos so a depth camera is something I really don't care about. I do take macro shots now and then, like once or twice a month. For me a camera is just a convenient thing to have on my phone. The whole camera hype on phones is something I don't care much about. When Apple removes the camera altogether, within 2 years no phone will have a camera anymore anyways.

Extremely paraphrased, that is the question, isn't it? That said, I, like many others, left the fugly camera hump madness behind this year. Enjoying every second of life with my hump-less Flip3.

we don't need fricking depth camera just for portraits! Remember the Pixel3/XL, it did it with a single camera. Unless it's something really interesting and unusual like the N9PV, then, it makes some sense, but still NO fricking need, ToF might be useful in some cases, but it isn't necessary!
And onto the macro one, I think either is fine-an UW with AF or a telemacro-but it should be >12MP, not some stupid 2,5,8MP junk.
I still dont understand how is it that the 7T had wide+UW w/ AF+telephoto, all >12MP, with OIS no less for such a competitive price, and now what do we have 2MP macro cameras for $900 flagships, pathetic!!
