Usually a section of the heat pipe or vapor chamber is connected to a metal frame, so the ability to take away heat from a chip more efficiently using advanced technology like this is actually quite important even on a phone.

In gaming PCs, the performance difference compared to a regular PC is clearly huge. Plus many brands (laptops) have many customizations, can upgrade RAM, SSD/HDD, etc.
But gaming phones are just beefed up flagships for gaming. Not much of a performance difference, uses the exact chipset, few gaming phones actually perform worse than a regular flagship. But sacrifices in other features like the camera. I don’t understand the obsession of mobile gaming when most games are just a paywall to grab money?
The mobile gaming innovation has recently slowed down, worse than PC/console games.

I highly doubt Xiaomi’s claim and no, vapor chambers on a phone don’t help a lot.
Vapor chambers only work on large peripherals like PCs and consoles with large heatsinks and vents. There is also a lot of surface area to dissipate the heat.
Phones like these are covered by glass backs anyway. Phones can only use both the frame and glass to dissipate the heat. The best solution is to use a metal frame, not add gimmicky vapor chambers. Too much vapor chamber can actually act as an insulator, similar to putting too much thermal paste on top of a PC Processor.

Didn't think phones ever need liquid cooling but, with the latest flagship processors and AAA titles, here we are. I just hope we don't end up with Noctua cooling towers, lol.

While it sounds good we have to wait and see how much of a difference it will do in real life performance. I suspect it will be marginal at best but still its nice to see at least some company focusing on the cooling aspect of a phone (outside og gaming phone makers).
Apple, Sony and Samsung take notice.
