Qualcomm will move to 4 digit for the all-64-bit Cortex A710/A510.
It will be SD 8000

Why would qualcomm so eager to skip numbers?
The 888 was too early. They had 880 and 885 skipped.
And then now 898? What about 890 and 895...
Are they so eager to move into SD9xx now?

You just can't say Qualcomm doesn't have a choice.
If someone like Mediatek, who is much less premium can secure TSMC, why couldn't Qualcomm.
Qualcomm surely went for the budget option going to Samsung (or did Samsung promised them advanced tech, say 4nm or 3nm in advance). Either way, you bet and you may lose.

In benchmarks yes. Because everyone know how... moreSnapdragon 778g barely gets to the feet of the Dimensity 1100, in peak performance, Maybe beat the Dimensity 1200? You must be quite uninformed or are just a troll, Qualcomm fan, in fact the Snapdragon 778g is a little better at energy efficiency because it uses 1x A78 to 2.4ghz, while the DM 1100 uses 4x A78 at 2.4ghz...
Less fanaticism and more information.

They scimp out on features every year so people will always lack something.

Anonymous, 07 Nov 2021scamsung will destroy qualcom reputation For someone who has hated Scamsung for so many years growing up a Sony and Panasonic fan in the 90s, I actually don't mind. Let Qualcomm make their own chips. Don't ask Samsung to make everything for everybody.
It's actually a smart move by them. Sabotage the manufacturing. Make competition move to Exynos after their partnership with AMD which will last at least 2 years. Google already did.
Becoming a Samsung and Motorola fanboy here. The only two OEMs to offer us foldable flip phones. Clamshell is the most protective form factor and the most compact for foldables. Don't ever see myself going back to a slab ever again. Too exposed to damage. Too boring.

Supposedly, Snapdragon 888 is underclocked on the Samsung phones using it. My Flip 3 doesn't overheat much. If it does throttle, it's because the weather is hot. That's when playing GameCube games gets choppy. But most of the time, it plays fine. Just make sure other apps in recent are closed.
Seems like Samsung is trying to ruin Qualcomm's reputation which is what happened with the iPhone 6S A9 chipgate. Which is why Apple stayed exclusively with TSMC for their A chips since the 7. Snapdragon 888 on Xiaomis are overheating due to Samsung's own sabotage.
Notice they want at least 50% to 60% of their phones next year to use Exynos with AMD.

In benchmarks yes. Because everyone know how mediatek optimizes their processors. But in real life, Snapdragon upcoming mid-tier processor will destroy Dimensity2000. Just like SD778G vs Dimensity1200.

Anonymous, 07 Nov 2021Wont be buying any phone with SoC manufactures by scamsung ... moreDimensity1200 and SD778G both are made on TSMC 6nm node but Dimensity1200 throttles more than SD778G. It depends on optimization and heat management not only on nodes. Next Dimensity2000 will show how hot can phone get on tsmc node.

Anonymous, 07 Nov 2021who cares . Mediatek 2000 going to destroy it anyway , if n... moreMediatek uses stock arm cores with no optimization. While Snapdragon optimizes their chips. SD778G is much better than Dimensity1200. And Upcoming Snapdragon mid-tier chipset will beat Dimensity2000 because of optimization.
Dimensity1200 destroys SD778G in benchmark because everyone knows how Mediatek optimizes their Dimensity processor.
And talking about heat management Dimensity1200 throttles more than SD778G and both of them use same node.
