Doubt this is the first time anyone's seen an "overpriced" Japanese phone. Just another low-volume, high-margin product.
Definitely won't change the compact phone market as someone already humbly stated.

Awfully cute. The price is insane, but hey it is a Balmuda!
Let's hope that this thing turns into a craze. Good for the diversity in Android world. More little phones are welcome. And at that size 16:9 becomes a good thing.

Haters gonna (already do) hate it, but except for the punch hole when there is a thick enough bezel, I like this phone, even though I prefer large ones (though this is mainly because I NEVER hit the right letter when writing, I am constantly offset for some reasons).
Many do like, want, and even need a small phone like that, and it is a nice thing that they can have whatever they like, we don't need a market when the ONLY thing available is what trend dictate and nothing for niches that EVERY MARKETS ON THE PLANET DO COVER except for the awful smartphone market.
Imagine complaining that there are left-hand guitar or left-hand/ambidextrous computer mouses being sold and justify your complaint it by saying "it is a niche".

Loving the compactness, but nothing else about it. Subpar processor and camera for premium price?

Very interesting device, the specs are decent and the design looks nice despite the punch hole with bezels not making much sense. The price is ridiculous for what it is.
The idea of a compact flagship should have been trending since the iPhone mini debut last year but even apple struggles with it, and what we see today are those giant slabs getting bigger at every generation.

Three gripes:
1. Huge top and bottom bezels on a punchhole display
2. SD 765 is slightly dated now (but still capable!)
3. The pricing: they are definitely making triple digit profit margins at those prices!

Sreeder37, 16 Nov 20214.9in, Snapdragon 765, 6gb ram & 128gb storage, 2500mah... moreThe concept and model is fine... now expecting Xiaomi o a chinese brand giving those specs with less than 300 dollars. A compact phone is not bad.
Or at 400 dollars with Snapdragon 780 instead.
If is Mediatek with Dimensity 920 and 250 dollars.

talha5007, 16 Nov 2021everything good and refreshing except 2 things, punch hole ... moreApparently Balmuda are famous for that kind of pricing.
Would love to see someone mainstream do this "2021 phone in a 2013 body" just as an alternative though. I know two friends for whom it'd become an instant recommendation, especially if it also came with better updates than the Zenfone 8...

Sony might release a compact flagship again... Their last compact phone matching the size of this Balmuda phone was released in 2017: the Xperia XZ1 Compact.
