I like that GSMArena had to change the title of this article, as it originally said "Dimensity 7000 to be faster than Snapdragon 870"
They for sure got some nice clicks after that title.

Anonymous, 20 Nov 2021they can not compete with the 898 or as they call it 8 gen 1 chipGpu side maybe, but core layout and such are the same. Also dimensity 9000 are on tsmc 4nm unlike sd8 gen1 on samsung 4nm. Dimensity also clocked higher on the 3 a710. Going up to 2.8ghz than 3 a710 on sd going only to 2.5ghz. tsmc 4nm are way superior than samsung 4nm. Qualcomm going samsung are for milking purposes. Samsung silicon are wayyyyyy cheaper than tsmc's. I'm expecting dimensity 9000 going into pricey high end phone, but I'm not surprise if sd phone are going to be pricier than dimensity phones while being on a way cheaper samsung 4nm since it sd after all.

I'm guessing they are future proofing their naming. 9000 skips a lot of numbers and you can bet the few thousands are left out for the future lower range models such as 700, which will advance beyond 1200.
