AnonD-1001048, 24 Nov 2021More than Megapixels, companies should focus on sensor size... moreWe don't know what is more than enough because technology keeps changing
And standards change
Your very examples of phones that are good enough was once bleed edge technology for flagships
I would bet People back then said camera lower than those flagships were enough

Anonymous, 24 Nov 2021Tons of Pros say 50MP is not even necessary for Full Frame.... moreThe trend is oversharphend images, unnatural colours these days.
My favourite camera phone is still Nokia 808 PureView because of the laidback post processing it did in photos. No oversharpening, no over the top colours, just pure rendition of the original scene.

No low quality plastic lens used by phones can resolve this resolution.
Then phones need to apply sharpening to make texture better and make you believe it is all details.

Not sure why this article says 200mp is gonna strain the ISP
When Qualcomm has isp from last year built for this exact resolution
And the mediatek 9000 is supporting 320mp

More than Megapixels, companies should focus on sensor size, lens coating and ofcourse image processing. I have had some prominent camera phones over the last 10 years, such as Nokia N8, Nokia 808 PureView, Galaxy S7, Vivo X70 Pro.. 50 MP is more than enough if the sensor is larger with some proper lens coating and image processing algorithms.

Buy a Samsung phone with this sensor. Samsung phones are much better.

Such a sensor would be good for future super resolution algorithms.
