If you have money and Android flagship are priced same as Apple 13 pro. Then choose Apple phone/smartphone,. The smartphone war is already over, Apple wins hands down. Apple has better camera, better stereo speakers, superior cpu and gpu. Everything is way better with Apple 13. I will not be surprised if you tell me Google bosses are using Apple smartphone now.

TheLastOracle, 01 Dec 2021Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/ SG g1, seems to have mostly incremental... moreCPU has support for 18bit raw photos.
But you cannot use this unless the sensor has as well.
Current sensors are 12bit at most.

Not even 📷 have sensors with 18bit .

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/ SG g1, seems to have mostly incremental processing improvements. They should have added a lot more cache, and made larger improvements to the ISP. Which seems to verily suggest, that the Imaging Sensor improvement this year, ar pretty tiny. Except an 18-bit pipeline, most likely for HDR. That should add a few stops of dynamic range in HDR (4 theoretical and maybe 2 in actual use).

I am guessing there will be a SG g2 announcement, once some of the major OEMs release their 2021 SG g1 smartphones. Probably at the beginning of next year. Also, that way, it could release very close to the MediaTek's 9000 release date, even if the announcement was much later. Snapdragon's 2nd Generation 8 Gen SoC could beat the MediaTek 9000 that way.

I am still skeptical with 8gen1 about power consumption and heat management. Remember that samsung 4nm is still on 7nm LPP family (see the samsung roadmap) whether TSMC 4nm is improvement of 5nm

I hate the name but whatever. Why not just get into the 900 series already? Saying 8 Gen 1 is so awkward to say.

With this all-new firepower, Samsung and Motorola can take the chance to further polish their DeX and Ready For pocket PC capability respectively. Samsung DeX is in need for a much-needed upgrade.

I'm wondering why Qualcomm didn't bring any improvements in AI or are they saving it for later generations. To be honest I'm just hoping the Soc would bring a better heating management this time.
