Anonymous, 25 Nov 2021A 2022 chip needs to be better than 2021 chip. First device with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 already available in Dec 2021.
So it's a 2021 chip.
Good luck with those same old arguments next time...

Anonymous, 26 Nov 2021I hate this naming change from both Mediatek Dimensity and ... moreThe 8 gen 1 is the technical term
it actually will be X-Y-ZZ
X will be the series
Y will be the Gen
ZZ will be the version
So 8 gen 1 will be 8100 or perhaps 8110
Just like the intel i processor & AMD ryzen CPU naming.
Same with the Dimensity.

The cpu alone in the m1&m1 max are upto 28W&40W respectively.
The 32 core M1 max gpu is 60W. They will never put that kind of tdp for a smaller devices.

Anonymous, 26 Nov 2021I hate this naming change from both Mediatek Dimensity and ... moreIt's like chasing version numbers, probably to keep shareholders happy and a bragging contest with rivals, bigger number = better.
Some of us remember when the Chrome and Firefox browsers decided to chase version numbers with their releases.
