It would still receive timely security updates, though.

Anonymous, 01 Dec 2021I dont care about updates but it's expected from brand... moreAs you can see HMD doesn't think so, therefore your point is wrong.

Same thing happened with Lumia 1020, that was the 9nly Nokia Lumia phone that didn't receive Windows 10 despite having 1GB RAM.

They could've made this announcement when another flagship is on the way. Now Nokia fans will go and buy Samsung , OnePlus , Vivo etc....

Neo, 30 Nov 2021Neither did those who bought the phoneWhat does Android version has to do with the camera?

No need OS for marketing reason.Only need regular security updates and patches for bugs.

It's kind of a point that you pay more so you have more updates and especially on stock android

Anonymous, 01 Dec 2021It is not that android 11 is not compatible. It is because ... moreCan also be the know how that's missing. The camera is developed by light, and it seems light is out of mobile market letting hmd empty handed. Of course, this does not excuse the fact that they do not care to much of their 9pureview users...

Can't believe that their flagship phone is left in the dust compared to other mid range or entry level models, even on the same brand. What a pity that this incompatibility they're saying can't be addressed. Innovation or just brand marketing?

HMD is so much focused on $100 feature phones so that, they probably don't have enough resources left to develop flagship grade android updates.

If HMD/Nokia will not update PureView 9 to Andriod 11 then the company should extend its security updates beyond the typical 2 years. You paid US$500 for this, you should use it as long as practically and safely possible.

It is not that android 11 is not compatible. It is because Nokia don't want to spend time and effort to make camera software compatible with android 11. It's a shame.

Lolololol 1 android updates for a flagship phones on Android one program. it's possible that the Nokia xr20, which is said to get 5 years of updates or something, will get 1 too.

                              it makes sense though...
admit that some manufactures ruin some of their phones with updates - faulty headphone jack, battery hungry, heating issues even when the initial software is good, random reboots, worst is deadboot...
but still curious, waiting for a 9 pureview owner, courageous enough, to flash an android 11 or 12 and see if the cameras work as it is...

Looking at how intense the photo processing algorithm in the first place, this should come as no surprise. After all, there are no factory-standard chipset with an ISP that can handle five camera at the same time. If HMD Nokia follows Vivo footstep by making their own custom ISP chip, that could be a completely different story altogether.

For these reasons , nokia will stay late compared to other companies
Especially if it continues using low standards in the phone industry

                                    What a joke.

Most buyers don't care about things like software updates. I'm the only person in my circle who kind of looks forward to big updates. So it's simple, people who like tech (most of the commenters here) shouldn't buy phones just for features but should check the manufacturer's update schedule so you don't have to get angry when you get no further updates. It's that simple.
