ARM is a big player. Xilinx is never going to have that sort of effect.

sixtymes, 05 Dec 2021corruption at the highest level. meanwhile, the FTC allowed... moreMmmmm. AMD doesn't have enough resources to do anything. And it's not like Nvidia where Jensen is like a dictator.
So no one sees it as a threat. In fact, it's being nurtured as a rival against monopolies.
It's not about trust or interests. It's just unwarranted fear.

corruption at the highest level. meanwhile, the FTC allowed amd to by xlinx easily, in fact, they pushed that deal through so fast before anyone could file a dispute.

Anonymous, 04 Dec 2021Almost all of these technologies you see on daily basis are... moreMaybe you are living nostalgic Americana if 70s.

But CCP is leading China or Qing Dynasty and leads in Quantum and AI technologies.

And EU leads Europe not European Empire and leads in Domestic like ASML and AIC which makes new technologies with Intel, and new technologies of tomorrow.

          Wierd Take from You.

Ronald, 04 Dec 2021How powerful is m1x compared to the others, and is it even ... moreWell, Apple doesn't make games themselves but they are in the business.
It's not a stretch to say it. They are the most profitable. If you combine the money PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and Epic Games makes... all of those combined are less money than Apple makes from its Gaming Division (which is the 30% royalty/cut from In-App Purchases made from Games in its AppStore). Nintendo hasn't been at the top of their game, they have largely dwindled from the mindshare, marketshare, and profits over the past decade. They only survive due to nostalgia, and their fan base... but they haven't really been increasing their influence.

Apple is winning. They do NOT want to change that. They do not want to bring AAA-Games like RDR2 to the macOS and M1 Macbooks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVqy_RWtae8

How much power do those have?
Lots. The pattern is that they use less power than both Intel and AMD, but provide more CPU and GPU performance. There are essentially three tiers: M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max. I'll just give you the rough stats for the Max, but you can check other sources for more info, or the other tier chipsets mentioned.

Best case scenario, native app, optimised, synthetic benchmark:
CPU beating AMD r9-5950X, and GPU beating to RX-6800X.
CPU beating Intel 12900K, and GPU beating to RTX 3080.
Overall the M1X is beating the Xbox Series X (over-clocked) by a small margin.

            Normal scenario, Rosetta2, real-world application):
CPU close to AMD r9-5800, and GPU close to RX-6600.
CPU close to Intel 12600KF, and GPU close to RTX 3060.
Overall the M1X is losing to the PS5 (under-clocked) by a small margin.

ae86, 04 Dec 2021I know, im just saying if it somehow happened, it would be ... moreThe thing that Jenson promised was to keep IP in Britain itself just like how it is now, and maintain neutrality like ARM currently does after ARM purchase.

But we all know what a abusive anti-competetive company NVIDIA is.

And also but that doesn't stop a lunatic nationalist American President who becomes rogue and declares all overseas IP as American IP.

In which predence, it would be a illegal move but still it can stop ARM IP to China.

But China has been heavily investing in RISCV and knows such a Mmve could happen in the future

It's not only China buy a lot companies throughout the world are doing so, Esperanto,SiFive,AliBaba, hundreds of companies in China and some in Russia

Those who haven't designed a Chip before are starting to do so.

And RISC-V has provided them opportunity to do that.

hmm, 04 Dec 2021Crypto mining made the graphics card price go crazy up as t... moreI'm not 100% sure, but I think that mining video cards are different than the normal video cards. The reason for the high prices is not because of the mining, but because there's a shortage of supplies, everyone wants to buy and also everyone is buying a laptop since the pandemic started, causing even a bigger shortage.
Also, the auto industry has recently started to buy a huge number of CPU/GPUs for their cars.
Again, I'm not 100% sure, but I've seen yt videos where people explain how it's not caused by crypto mining.

I mean other companies use arm's technology, arm doesn't use others technology.

Also, saying that apple is the most successful gaming company is a bit of a stretch. Meanwhile nintendo has been at the top of their game for so many years.

Your absolutely right this will be really good. The case Nvidia will have to make to get the FTC to allow this merger to continue. It will have to be the either the most convincing shinola salesman or the most convincing con job in history I'm curious about which one they will try and how good they do. I don't think they will pull it off, but to be there and see. The case they try sell.
