My ROG 5 chugs through its 6000 mAh like it's nobody's business, even in daily tasks. Hardware wise, it's about strong enough for anything you could throw at it.

Also, even if Qualcomm matches or even beats it, what are they going to run on it? Windows for ARM ? That junk that hasn't worked for 10+ years and nothing looks like it ever will? That's the main problem.

Sorry to say but Android is inferior to iOS in the aspect of optimization of every apps. Limited as it may always be, but at least every app is ensured to be working really well, or maybe with very little inconsistencies only.
For Android, Google has to optimize the OS for various types of devices, all that are running on very different hardware components and with different SoC kernel codes to program the OS accordingly. It's exactly why of all many gaming phones today, professional players on mobile still prefer using an iPhone that's as old as an iPhone 8 Plus just because of how well-integrated the software is to run on a specific Apple hardware.
I have no issues at all with Android with the current way that it is, and I'm proud to be using all Android phones so far throughout my life, but surely I can see why people still prefer iPhones sometimes despite the huge amount of limitations and seemingly behind technologies, and I might even consider owning an iPhone as well in the future alongside an Android phone for the best of both worlds.

Seriously, what is up with these folks wanting to have a supercomputer in their palms? All I want is a decently powerful phone that doesn't lag in day to day usage and lasts for an average of 8 hours SOT. Is that too insane to ask for these days?
This race to produce supercomputer chips to push friggin full/wqhd pixels is too much of a migraine inducing exercise. We have personal computers for those things.
