MediaTek benchmarks the Dimensity 9000: faster CPU than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, slower GPU

17 December 2021
Not by much in both cases - the two chipsets perform within 15% of each other.

        - Dimensity 9000 uses TSMC's 4nm
        - Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses Samsung's 4nm

        At 2.85ghz Dimensity's Cortex A710 consumes 1.72W
        At 2.5ghz Snapdragon's Cortex A710 consumes 2.06W

TSMC's processus is far more efficient.
As power and heating are linked, mais tour conclusion!

          But Snapdragon give constant fps

MediaTek graphics are mostly crappy that's why gameplay is not as smooth.

Good for mediatek, but really question is will it throttle in the long run.
Remember making your cpu higher clocked, will cause more heat which will throttle the chip.
Why do think snapdragon don't clock theirs higher probably, throttle issue.

A little faster navigation but worse gaming and worse update support.

Curiou... moreIt's not how tasks are demanding per se but how code is programmed and executed (worker threads and SMP affinity). Most of the code is still optimised for SMP on only two core's, of course different tasks are distributed on different core's and more of them and worker's affinity and schedule remains kept on the first starting core of the cluster. Chrome is much bigger and more complicated than Linux kernel as an example.

Curious really, as the majority do messaging, watch/listen music/movies and some photos. I consider this 'normal' tasks, but of course different people, different needs :)
