Hopefully that does not mean the non-Ultra S22 phones will have corners cut elsewhere.

Anonymous, 20 Dec 2021Jesus, why everyone only knows drops and always endlessly p... moreTrue, I use a case anyways because I’m not dumb enough to drop an expensive phone and then pay a lot of money to repair it. In that case, the Glass will have much less scratches and marks than plastic or aluminum. I remember all the space grey iPhone 6 and 6s That had a lighter round segment around the camera where the case cutout was

Seems like they learned the lesson. S22, S22+, S22 Ultra are all flagships so they deserve the same top notch features. Make a difference to S22+ in screen size and battery, periscope in the Ultra+Spen+bigger battery etc but the fundamental features should be the same in all 3 models: same main camera sensor, same quality and screen resolution, same Soc, same quality of construction, same charging etc

unpopular opinion but i think plastic is better in the long run, at least if you're gonna put a case on your phone anyways like most people do, it will be much harder to shatter if you drop it but yeah samsung shouldn't be so greedy, charging 600 usd+ for plastic phones

LG G3 had it as well.
You cannot just have full metal body like HTC 10 or iphone 6.
Pixel 5 has inner cutout for the coil, metal chassis is covered by plastic , like LG G5.

The Flip, 20 Dec 2021Imagine a Sony PlayStation 5 was made all in glass? Or how ... moreBuuuuuuuuuuuuuls**t. White glass makes scratches and fingerprints entirely invisible. And it's hard to scratch in the first place. I can't believe what BS you people make up to justify garbage a** plastic backs. If you hate glass, then put a freaking case on it and stop screwing everyone else over who like glass. You can cover glass with plastic case, you can't cover plastic phone with glass case. Putting more plastics on plastics so it doesn't scratch from something as innocent as jeans pocket is just stupid.

I'm not even an apple fan but saying this. The s21 as well, with plastic rear. If apple launched the 2016 SE again I'll buy it for sure

Anonymous, 20 Dec 2021Jesus, why everyone only knows drops and always endlessly p... moreOK so I don't know what plastic back phones you used but it must be very very cheap. Like really, a billion scratches from being put In your pocket and being placed on a table. Not even samsung older A series phones where they used to call their cheap plastic "glasstic" scratches that easily. There are some reviewers that will say they love the feel of certain plastic back and is very light and comfortable, that is a result of when plastic back is done properly

Thank you Samsung! It seems all the complaining over it finally paid off for once (or them observing poor sales after this change on S21 models). It was ridiculous that they put plastic backs on such expensive phones. Now Galaxy S models are again interesting to me and was only reason I entirely didn't consider them at all. Software support is one of best tho so that's great.

Gsm, 20 Dec 2021Yes plastic is better than glass in phone.glass breaks as i... moreJesus, why everyone only knows drops and always endlessly point at it every time we argue about back materials. What about billion scratches from simple things like pockets and table? Plastic gets scratched even from that. And I consider that regular careful use. Drops are outliers and extreme cases that don't happen 55 times every single day. And no, glass is NOT a better insulator than plastics. Plastics are almost the best insulator you can get. Glass is very bad one. You know why glass feels cold? Because it's a bad insulator. With plastics you literally feel the warmth of your own fingers reflecting from it. Glass is soaking it in and thus feels cold to the touch. Same goes for chipset heat. It's accepted by glass faster and dissipated into air outside. Plastics just keep it inside.

The person who wrote this is probably is some Zoomer born in 2000 and owned only glass reared phones for their entire life. Probably didn't get a smartphone until the iPhone 4 or 4S. Feels better? More durable? LOL!
This is only a personal preference that isn't liked by everyone who have owned plastic and metal back phones before. Glossy glass is my least favorite followed by glossy plastic. I want matte finishes for all of them.
