I don't think it's possible to do so that early, at least outside the US. There're just too many countries that almost everybody uses physical SIM cards

Definitely one day physical sim will expire and all phone will only support esim but at least there is 4 year gap between one and that day.
So if Apple is going to keep non-developed countries store it must sell them with Sim cart slot.

I live in this small country in the Indian Ocean with a population of about 400,000 people
We have only two mobile carriers and both provide eSIM. It’s quite easy to get one too. So I really don’t understand why European countries wud be behind this tech 🤷♂️

Anonymous, 26 Dec 2021Oh look, another great innovation from Apple! Android bette... moreWhy would you root your phone or install APK files from unknown sources ? I use my phone for banking and work and would never trust installing stollen apps and games in the risk of getting my credentials
stollen or having my phone used as a mining device ect.
Same thing goes for custom roms , too much at risk nowadays.

On one side everyone is whining about how hard phones are to repair and on the other they want them to be super water proof to depths of 500m for some reason. How did all of these people manage to not drown their phones 5 times a year when we had no waterproofing on anything? I surely never wet any of my phones and neither I've shattered glass on any of them. Ever. It's almost as if I'm not a total clumsy trainwreck who doesn't need any of this nonsense. Only phones that were waterproof like this were CAT phones because that's their thing since beginning of time and because they are actually used by people who work outdoors and actually need stuff like this.

Almand, 26 Dec 2021I live in this small country in the Indian Ocean with a pop... moreBecause eSim is a terrible for hot swapping devices. Only way to do it is through carrier and being dependent like that is just moronic to the max. Waterproofing benefit is meaningless if you're stuck without a phone on sunday because carrier doesn't work and you need to swap a sim to another phone. And even if they offer control panel for users to do it, you still depend on that and also what could possibly go wrong with that abuse wise. No, I'll prefer the physical SIM.

Its Milan, 26 Dec 2021They literally talked about it in the bottom half, dude rea... moreEven for countries that do you can't just simply move around any sim or evergreen simply add it on most carriers at the drop of a dime or past a certain time at night. Even when there is an option to try it fails or needs approval by talking in person.
So it's a very poor idea. If you could switch to any carrier at any given moment maybe. But even then if you aren't the account holder or have all that info you would still be sold.
So it's an extremely counteracting thing right now. Wouldn't expect anything less from Apple.

This could cause issues with roaming, even if the market where the phone was originally sold in had eSIMs available.

Seriously, I did not read through all the comments before commenting like I used to, but GSMARENA, are you serious? Something as far-fetch as iPhone 15 rumours you bother to even put in up on your website.
Please, you used to be one of the better sites on mobile phones. This article is such a big disappointment.
