For me its normal to buy tiny phones for my small kids, for myself, its normal to get 6.67- 7.2 inch phones.
We all have different needs.

Sure, if one has small hands, then a small phone probably is easier to use. I have a 6.55" phone now and that feels pretty compact.

Specs ... moreI'll never get a Xiaomi either, but sometimes they nail their designs.
In general, the Chinese phone makers do a lot of experiments and some of them are a home run. Problem is they don't build on the amazing results, they throw it out the window and start from scratch for the next iteration.
The camera island of the 12 is one of the best they've done in a while. Truly elegant.
