It's that the article mentions this brand is from India, because it looks like any other cheaper Chinese brand.

I am not sure the sort of agreement these companies have (Lava and Realme). However, I think this is some sort of agressive marketing, which I believe shouldn't be allowed to continue.

The Indian trade and commerce should wade into such agressive business strategy before it turns into some trade war? I am sure the two companies are not Indian origins?

Never bought a chinese smartphone and never will as long there are other options, but trying to rely on people's patriotism to sell your phones? That's bad.

OwnFix3, 03 Jan 2022Agree with you. Competition is good, but tactics like these... moreAgreed.
A local brand trying to grow or countrymen advocating for purchase/support of said local brand isn't inherently a bad thing. Especially if the product by the brand is of decent quality.

Marketing like this however only serves to hurt their image or whatever's left of it and serves to undermine people's faith in ability of local OEMs in general.

I am not sure what they could've done differently besides taking the humble pill. I am sure promising OS updates or experimenting with the phone design too much isn't cost effective for these companies, so to compete they should've just dropped the prices further to make the phone more appealing to buyers instead of pulling this stuff. It might have involved cutting down profit margins but they might have been able to get some space in the market that way and could've capitalized on that.

Very cheap trick by Lava. I seriously think that Lava is going nowhere with such tactics and will be doomed soon enough. Just stamping Made in India sticker on boxes don't make the phone Chinese when not even a single component is Indian in the phone.

The US is free to pursue its national interests. Russia should too. And India WILL as well.

The US also threatened to sanction Germany over the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from Russia. What do you make of that? Or Israel and the US squabbling over the Iranian nuclear deal?

How about you avoid geopolitical debates if you aren't smart enough to decipher them. Allies and quasi-allies get into minor quarrels all the time. India knows its enemies, its frenemies, and those it has to tolerate. China is firmly in the enemy camp, along with Pakistan.

The world was doing just fine until 1990 and would continue chugging along long after we forget whatever sh*t goes on in that country.

This Chinese brown-nosing because a lot of you are too far down the economic totem pole to afford the stuff you actually want needs to be toned down. Go get something worth doing with your life so you don't need to purchase cheap trinkets to feel better about yourself.

China practices nationalism. The worst kind. Samsung barely has a 2% market share in China because of a kerfuffle between South Korea and China a couple of years back. China has actually killed Indian soldiers in the last couple years during clashes, but you deranged f*ck ups think the world runs on fairy farts. Perhaps, you can go tell the families of the soldiers who died that their sacrifice is BS and that the country they died for should bend over backwards to accommodate the companies of the country that orchestrated their demise.

Nationalism and id*otic multinational greed is why China is doing so well today. Other countries and companies have a right to explore the same path. India has a population of 1.3 billion people and should support its own companies rather than those of its next door arch-enemy. China cannot close off its market access to foreign companies then go into other countries it actually has regular flare-ups with to demand fair access. They can GF themselves.
