A new chipset, faster charging and a better screen are just some of the changes.

2) The human eye can actually see the difference between 1080p and higher resolutions like 4K, at least on big screens. I'm unsure about being able to see a difference on smaller screens like smartphone screens.

Person needs to be really fool to buy this one over 9 pro.

    - Worse software
    - Main cam will not improve as long they work with people that make oppo camera ( vivo has own team and now is years ahead).
    - second cam JN1 : I would not mind this move if they had used the extra space for a periscope

I doubt jn1 and sensor used by 3rd cam have 12bit ADC . Probably just software enhancement to simulate 12bit. I know other phones that do it ( from 8 up to 10) ..

OP sells 9 pro for $849 right now. This one may be $1000 when leaves China.

To replace a jn1 sensor out of warranty on the redmi note 11 costs 70rmb for the parts (around US$11). Obviously the cost of the sensor to them would be less as this is the price they charge to consumers.

I preferred OnePlus's, but it is minor.

They downgraded the ultra wide angle sensor but it's still bigger than the ones on the OnePlus 9RT and Galaxy S21 FE, so I'm expecting good results, just not Ultra flagship level, the JN1 probably has more features than these two phones' ultra wide angle sensors.
The OnePlus 10 Pro will probably be cheaper than the 9 Pro globally, while still having the new SD 8 Gen1 SoC, LTPO 2 display, bigger battery, faster charging, 32 MP selfie camera(they've been a 16 MP one since the 3T, even if it was possibly a different sensor).

beyond logic, 11 Jan 2022Sensor features or not, it is tiny sensor, smaller than IMX... moreYeah, I have said the same thing as part of this comment chain before. That's why I said imx586ish sensors would be better for budget phones.

As I have said in one of my previous comments, my issue is with using jn1 in midrange primary cameras. We were going from 1/2 -> 1/1.7 -> 1/1.5 -> even 1/1.3 approx. Then came this garbage trend of using jn1 as primary in midrange,/ budget phones. It is literally a couple of step backwards at least.

That being said, it's a perfect sensor for periscope zooms. Small, fast autofocus, fast enough for computational stacking, 4k60, single frame hdr etc etc.

Heck, rumors even have it that the future iPhones will have Touch ID back, either on the power button or in-display one.
Once Apple gives same treatment to iPhones as they are giving to MacBooks, then such a thing might just happen, and given their huge influence, others will eventually follow suit as well.

                                      Good news (no website reported).

With amdroid 12 update, OP9 Pro no longer has 5 minutes limit for 4K@60 recording.

Yeah...predictable...and pathetically, no 512GB version to make up for the lack of expanded memory.

It's over. OnePlus is literally Oppo Find X Neo for China and Oppo 'flagship' for the US now.
