This ultra wide is gonna be even crappier than one from iphone.

With this huge difference between real FOV and the default setting FOV, upscale shall be involved.

Mikeromeoz, 11 Jan 2022Even with doubts, I knew it was gonna be the JN1, which is ... moreSeems to be a new trend. Xiaomi 12 pro, Realme GT2 pro and now the Oneplus 10 pro. Probably only costs $10-15 and looks good on paper for marketing purposes

Gone are the good days when oneplus did simultaneous launches in India and Usa… they are not confident anymore.. it’s like only a race to bring 8gen 1 first

Digital Photography Review, on january 7th.

"The main, ultra-wide and telephoto cameras all include the same megapixel counts as last year's model, 48MP, 50MP and 8MP, respectively. However, the ultra-wide camera is new. It includes the ability to switch between a 110-degree field of view and a 150-degree field of view, which is like shooting with a 5mm lens on a full-frame camera. There's also a new Fisheye Mode if you want to lean into the ultra-wide perspective. If not, A.I PERFORMS STANDARD DISTORION CORRECTION".

One of the most famous websites about photography (maybe the #1) says there is software distortion correction, but still Nick will be saying there is not and I have made this up. 🤣

I'm surprised they didn't call it Oneplus 9RT²9028 or anything cryptic like this.😲
              Thanks Oneplus 😐

Mikeromeoz, 11 Jan 2022Even with doubts, I knew it was gonna be the JN1, which is ... more150 degrees = 5mm (FF equiv). This is a real ultra wide (definition of ultra wide is 8mm or wider) .. Probably much easier to put small sensor behind such lens than much larger imx766.

Yeah, I feel like 9RT is going to be the OnePlus 10.

Few old zte nubia had even worse red ring.

Even with doubts, I knew it was gonna be the JN1, which is a MASSIVE stepdown from the older IMX766 UW. That sensor is only good for entry-level primary cam IMO. Why are they doing this, besides for costdown due to commonality with the realme GT2 Pro? There's no need for such an excess view angle, especially if you gotta sacrifice quality for it!

BJRG, 11 Jan 2022So no OnePlus 10?It may come with the global launch. Not sure though, considering they're launching the 9RT now everywhere!

That white colored ball in the camera area is such an eyesore. Does it serve any sort of functional purpose? Visually, it really looks out of place in the 4 burner stove setup, behind.

To me it is funny how people love wrong colours out of galaxy/iphone/pixel , but they are fine with the correct colours out of video cameras that record everything they watch on tv.
And when someone hires photographers, nobody ask for punchy and saturated.

                                So no OnePlus 10?

It's an ok phone, but it doesn't have any standout features in a blooming smartphone marketplace where competitors are offering all the bells & whistles. So OnePlus needs to do better if they want the attention of buyers.

Big improvement? It could easily be a 9x or 9T or whatever. Latest cpu, slightly larger battery, slightly better screen, basically same cameras, faster charging. I suspect the cameras will have approx. the same performance as last year's model, which means their Hasselblad investment was a huge waste of money.

                                        No non pro version
