Alleged Xiaomi 12 mini render surfaces with sub-6 inch AMOLED display

03 February 2022
The chances of this becoming a real device are not great - mini is just not a popular form factor for smartphones.

Remember when huge phones with 5 inch displays were "phablets"? Now anything under 6 inch screens is a "mini" lmao. Wish we had more "small" phones so this 12 mini is definitely welcome.

Finally a proper mini flagship! If this was great device I’ll consider buying it next to my iPhone 13 Mini

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2022will around 130_140mm right?????When I bought my first proper smartphone, it was the Acer E300 Trio, it has a 5" display and was 14,7cm tall, it was considered average but on the big side by then.

And I was looking at the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 who had a 6" display and 151.8mm (I prefer larger displays and devices) and it was considered a “Phablette”, a mix between smartphone and tablet, because of how big it was.
But nowaday it is an average, in fact, it is small compared to flagships.
But I took the even bigger OnePlus 6t over it.

And even if I prefer bigger phones, indeed, smartphones nowadays that are labelled “small” are quite big compared to what they could be.

They say it is a sub 6" display, but there isn't any phones that has a sub 6" (but still bigger than 5.5") display which is under 140mm, let alone 130mm :
      https://www.gsmarena.com/search.php3?nHeightMax=140&fDisplayInchesMin=5.5&fDisplayInchesMax=6
You only have 3 results when going down to 5.4" display :
      https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?nHeightMax=140&fDisplayInchesMin=5.4&fDisplayInchesMax=6

So, sorry but I highly doubt it will be even under 145mm, probably more 150mm…
Put the blame on people who constantly say that “no one want small phones” despite literally everyone that isn't a tech enthusiast and who doesn't have eyesight problems complaining about phones being too big.
All those haters who complain about things they can EASILY ignore and have more than enough alternatives (literally 95% of the market, minimum) who still ASSERT things they know nothing about, they have a big (and highly negative) influence on the market.

If it has more than 13,4cm height and 6,3 cm width, it is no mini.
