But, 6-8 hr usage is on one go, they recharge while in the box, meaning you have some 3-4 full charges x 6-8 hr, for one box charge (24-32 hr usage per charge).
One charge lasts to me for a month.
They ll last 5 yrs and over, but depending on how much you use them.

Sony should've at least license the AptX. LDAC has being know to be sensitive on connectivity, while the 990kbs IS better than other CODEC, but at every other bitrate, it does not have any signification advantage, in particular distance vs kbs by auto bitrate. And it does NOT use 990kbs most of the time even if the phone is close. For none Apple phones, Qualcomm's AptX (doesn't matter which variant) does the balance of quality (both sound and connectivity) vs distance very well as a Bluetooth CODEC. It was a deciding factor for me to ignore both the WH/WF XM4 family entirely.
It amuses me Sony has being in the music industry for this long, being down this road many times over their proprietary technology yet miss the critical point every time, despite look very good on paper and seems so promising.

As others said the only issue is that headphones connect to the phone while in case on rare occasions.
I love the fit, sound, battery life. I tried all connection options early on and am not using LDAC as that is very limiting if you want to stream music.
The noise cancelation I found weak early on. However as I kept using them I started appreciating it. It does just enough so you get great sound even in very noisy places. It just dies not provide complete silence.

'For more serious gaming you are always better off with wired audio, especially if you also need to use the mic.'
You don't say...
At any rate, how many years will this $250 bud (2-6hr per usage) keep working? Can it last up to 5 years or more?

Was a little disappointed with audio quality on mine but a bit of eq helped. The biggest problem I have with them though is they keep connecting to my phone whilst still in the case, only the right ear though. Drains the battery. Thought the latest software would help but no.

Bad default EQ tuning, abysmal mics (typical sony) and noticeable latency in games ... well, unless you are planing on tuning via EQ, you are much better off with the older WF-1000MX3.

Your best hope is probably that Samsung releases their Scalable codec to open source. Though, I wouldn't keep my hopes up on that either.

The most obvious comparison is to the Anker Pro 3, and I do not see it in this review.
This is the only "cheaper alternative" that uses LDAC and has a decent sound quality.

Sinai, 12 Feb 2022Great review! I want to buy the Sony headphones (Sony WF... moreSound quality shouldn't really be your priority with bluetooth earphones. I have the Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy Buds+ and honestly the wired headset which was included with the phone sounds about 100x better than any wireless earphones/headphones I ever tried. And please note that that's through USB-C port because the Note 20 Ultra doesn't have a 3.5mm jack.

I've heard nice reviews about these, but they don't offer much more than my Jabra 75t's. Not enough to switch. They also look too fat in the ears.

Great review!
I want to buy the Sony headphones (Sony WF-1000XM4 True Wireless) and I wonder if I can get from them the high quality they offer in the Bluetooth standard in the S22 Ultra. Since the specification of the S22 on your site did not appear on the Bluetooth connectivity side, support for the Bluetooth aptX HD protocol.
The aptX HD protocol is a standard that supports high-quality / better audio / sound audio streaming and reduces the dwell time interval (image) between image and sound. To take advantage of this, make sure that the two devices (player and audio) support this standard, for that matter, a smartphone (player) and also the Bluetooth headset (audio).

No multi connection which is a deal breaker for a lot of people.
