12 February 2022
The Sony WF-1000XM4 TWS earphones have been on the market for a while now and have built up a reputation for themselves.

Completely agree with reviewer. I was disappointed with Sony's sound quality. The high frequencies are so mud and muffle. That is a huge downside for this model.

These Earphones do not support AptX HD, but only AAC and LDAC.
Eh, always knew a headphone jack on a phone and wired headphones is a must for audiophiles.

This bt headphone tech is just messy and too inconvenient.

The only problem I have with mine is this annoying issue where the left earbud sometimes disconnects after sound has stopped playing through it (so imagine pausing a youtube video or song and when you play it again, only the right bud keeps working). The amount of times I've had to take my buds in and out of the case to get them to reconnect gets really frustrating..

Sony phones and these earphones support aptX HD, along with LDAC. Why would they want to support lesser quality aptX?
                AptX is midrange phone territory.
Any cheaper/lower quality earphones are just fine with aptX only phones.

silicone always make my ear itchy.

i always use earpieces without inner-tip

For the vast majority of people, comfort is more important than slightly better sound quality.
For those reasons, Over-ear headsets and On-ear earphones, will be more appropriate than In-ear earbuds.

I like my sound quality, so I have the WH XM4s. Any of these rubber and silicone units that squeeze your inner ear are a non-starter for me. I also have some Classic Walkman's which are wired, lightweight On-ear earphones, and they're pretty damn good.

2022 best earbuds? I dont think so.

Just go for the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2. And test is! Compare it with the Sony! You will find the difference in sound Quality.

And once again, no mention on how you can only assign one function per bud. So if I have the stop/play function on the left bud and volume on the right, I then have to manually go into the Sony app to turn anc on when talking to someone or just have the hear through function. I know there's a function to stop audio when talking but I'd rather do it manually like you can with the Jabra 75t via the bud. Why can't I just have the hold bud function enable or disable anc??

I got the WF and the WH.
Both have the same connectivity issues as the xm3. Just playing my podcasts: I can turn my head, and the far-side stutters. Park, Beach, Home - environment doesn't matter. Paired to either my Huawei or my new Samsung.

Riding my bike is always frustrating because for some reason they amplify the wind noise... leaving me no option but to stop, launch the app and choose wind noise reduction. Does it keep that setting next use? No - you have to juggle through this awkward process every time.
With wind noise reduction on, they are now limited to 50% volume too.

I just changed phone to the new Samsung and now everyone shouts at me in calls. I can hear them perfectly, but I get a lot of comments like "jeez that woman next to you is so loud!" - she will be literally down the road, talking at a normal level... but these headphones amplify EVERYTHING around you to a consistently equal level as yourself.
If I go into the server room, I can talk to anyone in that room at a normal level perfectly fine, but apparently over the phone: they can only hear fan noise and barely hear me.

The background noise issue MIGHT just be some horrific incompatibility with Samsungs... but I upgraded phone soon after my xm4's arrived, so it's more likely that I just didn't make many calls before changing handset.

Strangely enough Samsung did not include this in the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The question is, will the existing Bluetooth Codec protocol in the Galaxy S22 Ultra allow Sony's listeners, Sony WF-1000XM4 True Wireless, to realize the high quality they offer? In other words, can I get from Sony's headphones the high quality they offer in the Bluetooth standard in the Galaxy S22 Ultra?
