LOL. Did they ask their people if they want Facebook out of their lives? Specially to those who use the platform to do their business. Sure, Meta is not perfect, but it's being targeted for being a money making company. Everyone wants a dime including EU I guess.

PepperPot, 09 Feb 2022Are you sure you guys can live without meta? You're g... moreExactly, it's nonsense. These polititians don't speak for everyone and only want to sound cool by trashing facebook just because it's a big company instead of at least pretending that they care about both citizens and businesses like they should. And as you're saying, I can't imagine my life without it and nobody else probably could, everyone would become friendless overnight. But on the other side facebook is just using strong words, they will have to adapt to these new laws (no matter if they're dumb or smart laws) if they want to survive.

It's okay. No one should be above the law like what happened with broadcasting giant in the Philippines. Their platform was good but misconduct must not always be tolerated. Just saying.

Of course they won't, those officials never see any problem with anything. Those politicians love using Twitter anyway.
There will be millions that disagree with this, all those businesses that mainly run on FB/IG, lots of communities that use FB groups, or influencers (it's not like I care about them, but they're some noisy bunch).
If Facebook starts making a VPN server, that'll be a good extra profit.
