It's not going to displace existing chat apps like Whatsapp, Wechat, Telegram etc, and it's not going to compete with Apple iMessages.
It's just for storing all the automated SMSes you receive from a bank, notifications from a hospital etc.
If Samsung wants to increase the market share of its own apps e.g. Samsung browser, Samsung Messages, it should proactively promote them to the non-Samsung Android phone users.

Messenger provides a much better texting environment with better safety controls and the ability to move much larger files than stock Google e mail. It seems to work better with IOS from what I've been able to notice.

Only reason I buy Samsung is because the dialler and message app is Samsung made. Now Google dialler and message is being imposed on us, guess I'll have to look some other brand phones.

Don't like the Google app as you cant costumise the convo or chats like the way you can on sammy messages app.

FatShady, 14 Feb 2022its not out of the box...That’s like saying no smartphone has internet, because out of the box it isn’t set up….you still have to either input information such as Wi-Fi code or insert a SIM card or esim profile.
So nothing comes set up out of the box.
I just meant from initial set up , my safari gave me the option to use duck duck go , Google and some others

I own a Note 10 +. I tried switching from Stock Messaging app by Samsung to Google Messages multiple times and found that many existing conversations are lost in the process and I tried that in my old Galaxy S8 + and the results are the same. But I can see those conversations again if I switch back to the Stock Messaging app by Samsung. So I would say they haven't perfected the switch or I hate Google Messages for now.
