All Sony phones left you feeling that way. Even back in the day before other companies started skimping like apple.

AndroidAuthority, 20 Feb 2022Most likely how overpriced the phones are relative to the c... moreI love the fact people here that demand all brands to offer 5 versions of android are same people that often buy new phone in less than 16 months after last purchase just to have new CPU they believe to be 20-25% stronger and able to run games with 3-4fps more compared to previous.

OS should not even have new versions yearly.
Should be like windows, 5-6 years gap.

Every new android is just worse than previous and brings more bugs. Android K, L, M and N were much better.

          1. Switch and Ps4/ps5 are doing really well
          2. ToyoTa is still no 1, and Honda and Nissan still top 10 car Makers.
          3. Canon, Sony, Nikon still rule Camera Market

Even those market where they are not Actively present they are behind the scene, like in TV they make most Tech needed for display, in Smartphone same they are involved in Display, nand, material needed for silicon etc.

I would not choose X Perf or XZ over Z5.
Not fan of metal back and I hate hybrid slot.
Only advantages over z5 were cpu, 13MP selfie and 64GB storage (dual sim variant)

Anyway, these are the rumors about 1 iv

              - 6.5" LTPO
              - SD8g1
              - 12/256 and 16/512
              - 5000mAh , 45W
              - Quad 48MP, 2x2 OCL, 12bit

Even without a 8xx sanpdragon, X was much better than crap mi6.
Stereo, better screen, better photos, better design, better software.

Better to have complete midrange with 6xx cou than a average midrange with 8xx cpu.
                Even at gigher price.

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2022You forgot about zenfone 8not as small as Xperia Compact lineup.

iPhone Mini would be more similarly sized. Sadly those flopped and failed to bring back compact phones to the fashion.

Before anyone ever mentioned foldables they're still much bigger when in use. Even Galaxy Flip is closer to S+ size, bigger than regular S.

AnonD-864404, 20 Feb 2022Those confusing name of Sony... =_= I know where are you coming from echoing this statement but Xperia lineup have clearer naming, unlike their AV lineup.

The Xperia phones are nice, just the price is somewhat high for what they offer, especially since they always get "released" 6 months before you can buy them. They always release them around March with the latest Qualcomm soc, but once you can buy them in September or so, there is already the next refresh/update from competing manufacturers available...
Combined with the slightly lackluster os and os updates it makes them a sour apple to bite for the high price...

Yes tell us about the XZ series, I had an XZ1 from 2018 till 2020, it's still used as a secondary phone and i still love it!!

Sony can trim down the bezels and release this again and I will throw my current brick of a phone in the bin and switch to this instead

The X Performance are the reason I left Sony Xperia for good. Overpriced for the specs, low built quality. It can bend way worse than iPhone 6 fiasco! (Because the phone are not popular as iPhone, almost no one bats an eye).

Z5 are the last one, before I jump to Honor/Huawei. Honor 8 Pro alone camera are like x3 better quality than all of my Xperia's before (Neo, Arc S, S, Z1, Z2, Z5). Sad but true.

While currently satisfy with P40, I'm starting scratching my head which brand to go next as of today Huawei's future are uncertain 😂😂😂

                                One and only issue, overpriced.

                                    You embarass yourself here.

You still could not get over than even iphone has better parts than xiaomi phone despite look inferior in theory.

Hardware of 1iii costs more than retails price of Xiaomi K series. Deal with this...

Also, accept you bash other brands because you cant afford. The same speech of most xiaomi users.

SMIRNAS, 20 Feb 2022as former Sony fan,, I'd say Sony Xperia FAIL to Adapt... moreJapanese consumer electronics companies are declining because the rest of Asia isn't sitting around on their thumbs.

Japan is the third largest economy on the planet. The second-largest "developed" economy. The implication is that it costs a lot more to produce a component in Japan than in any other country in Asia. Unfortunately, most consumer electronics aren't hi-tech. You can assemble them anywhere and a global supply chain + just-in-time conveyor belt mean middle-income countries can compete favorably.

This is why Japanese products seem overpriced. Apple products would be significantly higher if they were mostly produced in the US, Japan, or Germany and not in China.

The only way these companies can stay afloat is to contract out manufacturing and even product design to ODMs in China, Vietnam and other middle-income hubs and rebadge the merchandise. This is how the likes of HP and Dell kept up with Lenovo; while Toshiba and Sony bowed out in the PC market.

The alternative is to give up low-margin consumer electronics to focus on higher-priced, IP-intensive hi-tech products. And that's what a lot of the Japanese customer electronics companies are doing.

Sony still makes high-end OLED TVs and cameras. But not laptops.
