Hemedans, 20 Feb 2022Av1 is just Big companies Wants to monopolize Video Codecs ... moreYou would want to replace av1 with hevc in your comments. AV1 is literally the best thing that could happen with videos. Encoders take time to launch since they are more complicated than decoders. The faster manufacturers, services and users switch to av1, better it is for entire industry. A good, widely supported open-source royalty-free video format was needed since many years

Helio x20 was a mid-range SoC made to rival SD660, as Snapdragon gave an absurd price tag for 1st gen SD660 (remember Xiaomi Mi Note 3?)

MediaTek did make a flagship SoC, but way before Helio was ever born.
It was MT6595, the one and only 'flagship' MediaTek made before 2021

"The launch is supported by the Alliance for Open Media, and partner companies the size of Google, Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Nvidia, Intel, Microsoft, Samsung, Hulu and Apple."
But precisely for that reason it will become a standard, it is free and totally free, not like HEVH which is paid, and that is the only reason why Qualcomm had not been interested in AV1 they want to continue charging royalties

"Like you and me, we can't set up anything using Av1, no iptv, no security camera, no live streaming, etc."
I didn't understand this, you can literally download AV1 right now without any problem, could you explain it better?

"Even Google blocks access to YouTube from Roku, they implement Av1 or they don't implement YouTube at all, do you still think that's fair?"
No, it's not fair, but Google can decide where they want YT to work, they can just use the excuse that they want users to use less bandwidth or any other lie and that's it, plus I think you're confusing something G is not forcing Roku only put a requirement on nothing, just as there are hundreds of players online, they must accept the demands of the one they want to use even if they are not fair

And I don't know of any 4K tablet coming back to the point, useless

i asked a question, if Google told company XXX for them to make youtube app they should make sure their Hardware has Av1 encoders is that monopoly behaviour or not? youtube has lot of codecs x264, vp8, vp9 etc if they force certain company to use certain codec what do you call that?

Rkm, 20 Feb 2022Av1 is literally open source and royalty free. Thanks you beat me to it to reply with this answer

                                  "1) D9000 can't drive a 4K display, even SD805 can."
Only Sony uses 4K screens so it's useless, but he gets the point

                                  "2) D9000 can't handle FHD@240Hz display, even SD855 can"
It handles 180Hz, ZTE is the one that uses the screens more frequently (according to what I know) and it is 165Hz

                                  "3) D9000 can't shoot 8K, even SD865 can, while 8g1 can do 8K HDR"
                                  Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Video Capture- 8K@30FPS, 4K@120FPS
                                  Video capture Dimensity 9000- 8K at 30FPS, 4K at 120FPS
How crazy huh, it seems that it records 8K

                                  Video playback Snapdragon 8 Gen 1- 8K at 30FPS, 4K at 120FPS
                                  Video capture Dimensity 9000- 8K at 60FPS, 4K at 120FPS

"4) D9000 doesn't have mmWave, even SD480 has " You're absolutely right but instead it has Release 16, you may think it's fanaticism but I find it much more useful than mmWave it's supposed to reach 3.4Gbps and the modem is MT theoretically 7Gbps, although I do not justify its lack

                                  "5) D9000 can handle 20GB RAM, SD888 can" 8 Gen 1 handles DPDDR5 and D9000 DPDDR5X so...

"6) Phones with D9000 will never get new 3 or 4 versions of Android like 8G1 phones can" You get the point, at least for now MT doesn't come close to that

"The only benefit is bluetooth 5.3"
Also Bluetooth LE with stereo audio, more cache L1, L2 and L3 which means less heat, higher RAM frequency and more bandwidth, support for GNSS Beidou III-B1C, 4K HDR with 3 simultaneous sensors, support for AAC LC, HE-AACv1, HE-AACv2, FLAC and AV1

In useless things we have the ability to take 320Mpx photos and ray tracing

Intel Anounced recently hardware encoder for Av1 in their Roadmap and Still its for servers and probably its going to cost a lot. Until now its just software/Cpu encoder used, and you need lot of perfomance for that which is out of budget for majority of people

As me and You we cant set anything by using Av1, No iptv, no Security camera, no livestream etc so we depend on those Big players for Av1 content,

Dont you see that as creating monopolies?

Even Google Block Roku youtube Access, they Either implement Av1 or no youtube At all, still you think its Fair?
