Samsung announces Exynos 5 Octa, an A15 and A7 hybrid SoC

09 January, 2013
The Exynos 5 Octa promises 70% lower power consumption compared to the Exynos 5 Dual.

I'm skeptical about this. 4 cores for hard processing is ok but 4 cores also for simple task?? Its too much IMHO. I hope they know what is practical but to think that they might only use this on thier flagships is fine. :)

If it was for people like you, we would still have computers running single core CPU with 64MB memory

Also, Xperia Z is going to be outdated on release LOL

You don't know what you're talking about. What Sony basically did is put a built in 'Power Saver' in the Xperia Z. Those are available in the Play Store for years now. What they mean by saying 400% increase in battery life is 'all things turned ON' (GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, Mobile Data, Sync) VERSUS 'all of them turned off'. Seriously, only morons would turn all those things ON when not in use. Do you need GPS to go to your bathroom? Or do you need to turn on WiFi when using mobile data? So moronic.

Woooowww! Finally, my faith in big.Little tech is vindicated, Samsung have at long last dropped the bomb! Nvidia n Qualcomm u can eat your hearts out (or your hats)! This part will power the SGS4 in all probability! Samsung r gonna go even better nxt year with Cortex A57-A53 cores and x64 (and x86) compatibility with ARM v8 and further process shrinks all the way down to 10 nm! If you have big cores, it demands more energy and battery. Intel has that problem on PC, do you see many 8 cores on the market? No. This is because of heat and energy problem. Samsung make an hybrid phone to reduce this, it is a clever solution and brings 50% reduction of energy.
