smartest dude, 01 Mar 2022No curved screen, no buy.Your comment is somewhat redundant, Sony as far as I'm aware, have only ever made flat screen phones.

Nick Tegrataker, 03 Mar 2022I guess it really depends on what kind of content you gener... moreI would rather have bars on the left and right than a notch or a hole. I’m using iPhone because nowadays it’s no match in terms of quality and I paid only 509€ for it (iPhone 12 bought last year).

Still the 21:9 hate isn’t relevant anymore as many smartphones are 19.5:9 or 20:9 which isn’t that far,
Also the 4k hate is also irrelevant as many flagship have similar resolutions (just don’t call them 4k).

Sony makes great devices, I just wish they had better software and better pricing, but they’re definitely no reason to hate on them,

Also for those who talk about the updates,

No, updates don’t matter to me, I change my smartphone at least every two years so if I have 2 years of update I don’t NEED more,
It’s good to have, I want to have more but I don’t NEED.

PS: I’m not going back to android unless they have a CPU that can compete with apple silicon. My iPhone never got hot And I’ve tortured it last summer in Greece with 46c outside and playing while charging etc.
My android devices would run hot just because I’m loading PNGs on webpages instead of JPGs lmao

There is nothing wrong with a little bit of bezel. If you don't like it then every other phone out there has that design you're looking for. Move on.

Their issues have always been in being years behind in tech, terrible customer support and warranty support, non existent release and availability, and mega over pricing.
          Design great.

I don't Man. I just read in another article that they will have a new or refreshing designs in their smartphones and yet its still the same. Maybe its a fake article but I'm kinda disappointed. Lets hope they'll put a computational photography this time.

Anonymous, 07 Mar 2022I'm starting to struggle to take your comments serious... moreYou couldn't put it any better. I had reception and WiFi issues and Sony actually made me move to Apple for the 1st time. iPhone maybe boring but it works and 5 plus years of updates and a product that actually works is miles better than expensive Sony junk phones.

This is also very bad: https://cacombos.com/device/XQ-BC62
The US model has SA 5G is disabled for every 5G band in the US. It likes to combine LTE 66 + NR 71 to turn on the "5G" indicator even though NR 71 is a long range band meant for stand alone 5G phones.
What about those NR SA bands that are enabled? This model won't use 5G outside of the US. Tried it.

Sony is not ready for a mark 4.

Tann Hauser, 04 Mar 2022First paragraph. You are talking about developer app suppo... moreI'm starting to struggle to take your comments seriously, man. Longevity literally means a duration of useful lifespan of a product - if a phone no longer receives any feature updates or security patches and gets so old that developers stop developing apps for it then it is no longer feasible for the owner to use it. This is why Apple has been delivering at minimum of 5 years of OS updates to their products. Even iPhone 6S or 7 are still usable if you replace a battery once in 2-3 years or so.

'There is little to no interest of hackers for >3 yr old android implementations on older phones.'
Wrong. Attackers are interested in ALL devices that possess vulnerabilities, so older phones that no longer receive security patches are their paramount targets.

A good update policy shows that the company actually cares about taking care of your device even after you have bought one. Samsung flagships will receive 4 years of OS updates. Oppo, Xiaomi, Google are 3 years. Given how large Sony is as a company, maximum of 2 OS updates for 1000-dollar flagships are just sad.

Quick remarks regarding people arguing about updates and usability..
It is a non sense argument since it depends on your own definition of usability..
And please take your (updates are not important) discussion to the nearest dumpster, if you still think that security and privacy are not important.. You may be from those who always love to say (I have nothing to hide).. Smh..
And nothing is really 100% secure but at least one should do what they can aka let their money do the talking (the language companies understand).

For a while I was thinking of getting an iPhone just because the update cycle but then Samsung with their 5 years support announcement made me stay.. Fair phones were also an option but their phones are not high end unfortunately..

TLDR.. Updates are not important is a Sh** argument.
And Why should we pay more for less.

You are talking about developer app support, not long term smartphone usability.

Second paragraph. OEM Security updates relate to android OS backdoor weaknesses and OEM/Googles bloatware app protection on your phone. There is little to no interest of hackers for >3 yr old android implementations on older phones. All bloatware/google apps are not essential to long term phone usability. I for ex use social and google apps through my browser, and the rest of neccesary google apps are long term backward compatible anyway.
The Only thing not working on my over 5 yr old faithful X Performance are some newer game apps requiring newer GPU drivers.
That does not equate to "long term unusable", cause the phone works perfectly in any other way.
And Yes, {hint} even the battery is still working just fine.
