Dimensity 8100 and 8000 announced, first smartphones coming in March

01 March 2022
These 5nm chips use the new Mali-G610 GPU, however, they stick to the older Cortex-A78/A55 CPU cores.

Looks like the leak telling that it will use the G510 is misleading

Looks like this will have much better TDP than 9000 and 8g1

Waiting for D9000.. my next SoC

IpsDisplay, 01 Mar 2022Remember that article with Qualcomm "rising" in m... moreQualcomm is smart, to use last year flagship in upper midrange.

Sd 870 was better soc than dimensity 1200, this year we saw sd 888 phones released for around $400. Oppo, iqoo, asus etc already anounced sd 888 devices this year.

Regarding cpu scores, on geekbnch v5, scores are as follows:
                    A78 A55 6 nm chips,
                    D1100 - 925/3200-3300
                    D1200- 975/3300-3400
                    D1300 - 1025/ 3300-3400
                    A78 A55 5 nm chips
                    D8000 - 975/ 3500-3600
                    D8100 - 1025/ 3600-3800
                    A710 A510 4nm chips
                    D9000 - 1275/ 4300-4500

Dont be confused with mali g710 vs g610. They are same with same features just different naming. If cores are between 1 and 6, it is called g610, if it is b/w 7 & 16, it is called g710. Further 1 core each of mali g610 or 710 are actually 2 cores combined. Thats why while mali g78 allowed 24 cores, mali g710 allows only 16 cores. Further mali g710 is 20% more powerful than 2 cores combined of mali g78.

Regarding performance on gfx bench manhattan 3.0,
                      Mali g710 mc10 (dimensity 9000) scores 230 fps @ 6.5 watt, mali g610 mc6 (dimensity 8100) scores 170 fps @ 5 watts, mali g610 mc6 (dimensity 8000) scores 140 fps @ 4 watts.

We all know 6.5 watts can't be sustained, only around 4 watts can be sustained. So sustained performance of dimensity 9000, 8100, 8000 will be almost same with dimensity 9000 just slightly better due to that 4 nm edge.

Remember that article with Qualcomm "rising" in market share in 2021 Q4..

Looks what's gonna happen when these 8000 series drops

Anonymous, 01 Mar 2022By March it actually means March 2023Stop the nonsense, the dimensity 9000 is already in a real phone in the find X5 pro

Those days of mediatek chipset launches in quarter 4 are over

Android.Oreo, 01 Mar 2022What will you do with 8K video? Its completely unnecessary Record for 10 minutes before storage is full then upload it to social media just for it to be compressed to 1080p lol

Not interested. Expensive, old Arm cores. Rather stick with SD778 or dimensity 920. Bring us A710 a510 cores

This might even be better than Dimensity 9000 which itself is better than SD8G1, because lower clocks = less heat = longer battery life.

BUT.. I'll believe it when I actually see it.

This is the first time I believe in Mediatek. SOCs looks promising and I hope manufacturers will use them more often this year. For me, last good high(er) end SOCs were 865(+)/870 and 778G.

888, 8 Gen 1, Exynos 2100/2200 - all have problems with heat and efficiency because of the Samsung's manufacturing process.

8000/8100 could be the gold standard for average user and 9K is maybe the new king of the benchmarks (if someone want to flex in front of the friends).

8000 will likely be more efficient and cheaper if it is priced close to 870 then it will be great. Now only thing dimensity/mediatak lags is support like custom rom etc. Otherwise thay are as good as sd.

They're beasts! The Dimensity 1300 is good enough for me.
