Isn't it better to let what little remains of Nokia die and not continue to humiliate this iconic brand any more? LG knew how to go out through the big door and assumed his defeat, follow those steps HMD

It was never in the flagship race.
I got a Nokia 8 in 2017 when it was touted as a flagship and promptly returned it. 😂

HMD since the beginning should have done what Nokia would do.
Not what low profile brand from China does.
- ugly phones
- many are ODM
- bad screens
- nothing interesting beside cam system of N9, that failed because cpu could not handle (their fault for using the previous chip).

They used the name and brand - "Nokia", and made only average phones. It's a shame and a disgrace what has been going on with Nokia since the Elop was CEO, sent there from Microsoft. Since then, only problems and bad business decisions.
- Sudden withdrawal from Symbian and no support for existing customers, so loss of trust and runaway
- No Android phones when it was the most popular system
- Selection of Windows Phone when this system was not ready
- Choosing WP as the only system, when all (!) other manufacturers produced telephones for at least two systems
- Resignation contrary to common sense from MeeGo, which was to be designed, inter alia Intel
And then the sale of Nokia's mobile department to Microsoft and this MS still screw up and a moment later Nadella closes Windows Phone / Mobile and the acquired Nokia mobile department is sold to Foxconn.
HMD Global was a ... light weight competitor, average phones, none of them was on the level of old Nokia products, they didnt get up to the heels of Samsung, Apple and even Xiaomi.
Nokia should go back to production itself and not waste brand on such projects. Preferably with a new system.

I think that's a smart decision on hmd's part, but I wonder how they are going to compete very well with the likes of xaiomi, realme and others. I really hope they succeed because more competition is good for the industry as a whole.

No, they are going in the exact opposite direction. Charging flagship premium prices almost for bottom of the barrel specs and slapping Nokia name on it. I'd even be forgiving if their software game was top notch. It just isn't and Android One is just a pathetic failed program.

I remember everyone was so excited when it was announced that Nokia would be returning with stock Android. We thought it would replace the Nexus line. I don't think anyone could have predicted the epic failure that would follow.

Flagship in 2022 means timely and good monthly updates for 3-5 years. That's even more expensive to provide than the hardware itself nowadays. Of course they can't compete in this department. And that's fine.

Nokia never was in the flagship game even they are not in the midrange game either. Nokia is below the budget range category.

I guess it makes sense. Suddenly releasing a flagship after struggling even with mid-range (performance wise) could completely kill Nokia's reputation.
Although I'd like to see a more interesting competition. The smartphone market hasn't been too exciting lately, not gonna lie.

Whackcar, 07 Mar 2022They didn't even try to compete in the flagship segmen... moreThey couldn't even update the 9 pureview because the company behind the camera don't exist anymore or something like that therefore they were unable to get the phone updated due to software, so users were left with a Lemon that in itself did them no favours.

They didn't even try to compete in the flagship segment. Their last "flagship" was what 3 years ago? (Nokia 9 Pureview), and even that one was dead on arrival. They should take a look at what BBK is doing & follow their footsteps, instead they kept releasing failure after failure without fixing it's flaws.
I don't think HMD/Nokia is gonna survive even in the midrange market. Their phones just aren't competitive enough.

Good, now pull out of the smartphone market all together with your plastic junk phones with 720p screens, weak cameras, poor software and bad charging.
